Food for Fridays: Shin Sen Gumi

4.29.2011

Yummy in my tummy! This Japanese place is known for its ramen noodle soup. Shin Sen Gumi has a Japan-style feel when you enter (the restaurant side). One of my friends, who has gone to Japan, said it has the same type of decor and atmosphere. Eating there reminded him of being in Japan. Want to know something funny? They actually have a Shin Sen Gumi restaurant in Tokyo, Japan so that's probably why it can be reminiscent of the country.

From the menu, I order the L-set (salad + fried rice + 1/2 noodle). For those of you who are like me and enjoy variety, this is definitely more bang for your buck. You get to sample three different dishes for $7.50! How awesome is that?

Please note: the extra toppings are additional charge. I tend to get carried away and may order anything in sight. Sometimes my stomach orders for me and how can I can't argue with that?

Bon appetit!

Wishlist: Judith Leiber

pink floral crystal clutch

miniature magnolia box

birdcage fine crystal bag

cleopatra evening bag (Rachel Zoe created for JL's collection)

Such an incredible collection of jewelry! Judith Leiber takes accessories and seriously turns them into treasured pieces of art that, for sure, will make you stop and look twice-if not more. Pretty, glittery, sparkly, artsy. No wonder celebrities love wearing her stuff.

I've heard of the Judith Leiber jewelry collection before and came across it again when I was helping out at the Oscar de la Renta LA fashion show. There was a small window display (picture above) set aside for the designer and as I was walking by, I literally stopped in my tracks. I couldn't help but to stare in awe for a couple minutes and daydream a bit.

After all, anything by Judith Leiber would be an honor to wear. Probably a girl's dream come true: to be dazzled with shiny things. Geesh! I am drooling over everything. Aren't you too? Love love love!

In Love with Leggings + SHOP A2K is Up! :)

4.26.2011

[tunic: borrowed from sister, leggings: angelina, cardy: hollister, bag: volcom, heels: bakers]

Yes I am a lover of leggings. They are just too comfortable (i.e. perfect for long road trips) and they practically go with everything! This was a semi-chilly day and thought it was a good time to wear my new lace, foot cutout leggings. They are totally awesome because they go over/under the heel, which is unexpected. Not only that, these lace leggings definitely added a surprise twist to my outfit. I happened to buy extra, which means you can get one too!

Great news: SHOP A2K is now up and running! It's taken me a while to set it up but I finally decided to just do it. I will slowly be adding more things to the A2K store (including some of my DIY handmade accessories) so check back often! Happy shopping! :)

Happy for the Sun

4.25.2011

[dress: foreign exchange, cardy: pacsun, boots: f21, bracelet/ring accessory: DIY]

The warm sun seems to be rare for us right now in SoCal. So I was very happy to be able to enjoy bits of it here and there when it came out. However indecisive the weather is, that will not stop me from bringing out my dresses. My mind is already set on spring/summer wardrobe! Apparently the saying goes "April showers bring May flowers." I sure hope so because May also happens to be my birth month. ;)

Have a good Monday everyone! This is going to be one week where I don't think I'll get much sleep. Thank goodness for afternoon naps! Those are going to keep me sane.

Food for Fridays: CSG

4.22.2011

Step 1: Pour desired meat onto grill.

Step 2: Enjoy variety of sides while meat cooks.

Step 3: Add your favorites sides to create your own little dish.

Step 4: Eat some ice cream!

Pardon my love for abbreviating everything but CSG stands for Cham Sut Gol, which is an all-you-can-eat place in Korea town in the OC. For about $20, you can enjoy some good food at this buffet. I really like the tofu soup, chicken, and dipping my meat in the sauces. After all, eating is not just a meal - it's an experience. This is a fun place to go to with big groups but make sure you're hungry and save some room for dessert! Cookies & cream ice cream is my favorite. Yum!

Bon appetit!

Remember the Flintstones?

4.21.2011

[dress: closet find, cardy: borrowed from a friend, flats: bakers, glasses: fendi, necklace: DIY]

This week seems to be all about black. It's funny how after starting a blog I realize how much black I wear. I don't necessarily love black but oddly, it always seem to be my go-to choice when picking out many of my outfits.

Above I am wearing one of my DIY creations: a necklace I designed. While shopping, the first thing that caught my eye was the decorative glass stone. It kind of reminds me of the Flintstones cartoon look, bringing back some fun childhood memories of eating cereal in the morning. Plus it sparkled and that can get me already. I'm a sucker for something shiny/sparkly/swirly. ;)

If You Look Closely, You Can See It

4.20.2011

[dress: h&m, heels: gifted from bakers]

Wore this gorgeous H&M dress to a friend's wedding (congrats to the happy couple!). This was actually one of my NYC trip purchases and, luckily, I found it just in time (literally, week of!). The shoulder details on this flowing chiffon gown made me fall in love with it the moment I tried it on. *sigh*

I actually had my hair curled to the side (maybe you can see it in the group photo) but as the night progressed, it slowly came undone. Unfortunately, I have a lot of thick hair so it's hard to stay up without a million bobby pins. Anybody have any hair tricks?

Sadly, during my SD trip, I accidentally broke a camera so I had to borrow another camera for this night. The photo quality isn't that great (boo) but it's all I had to work with. And the group picture above is actually me taking a picture of a picture. They only took one of those so I decided to make my own copy. ;)

Behind the scenes at the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2011 fashion show with the amazing CBT! I don't remember how long the fashion show was but I do remember how fast it flew by. Backstage, there was a lot going on during the fashion show with models, MUAs, dressers, etc. everywhere. Even though it can get crazy busy, I really enjoyed the moment and soaked it all up. In the end, we were very happy for a job well done.

What was even more incredible? Mr. Oscar de la Renta himself was there. I also passed by Kathy Hilton (yes, Paris Hilton's mom) as we went to the restroom. Small world.

Many thanks to Couture Beauty Team for their talented hair and makeup work, the beautiful models who were so nice (one of them liked my heels haha), and all the staff who helped out!

Oscar de la Renta Fall 2011 RTW fashion show

4.18.2011

Somebody pinch me! This was not just an ordinary Tuesday for me. Last week I had the rare opportunity to help out with the Oscar de la Renta fashion show at The Colleagues luncheon honoring former first lady Nancy Reagan.

The Oscar de la Renta fall 2011 RTW collection is nothing shy of minimalism. Everything made a statement with details galore. Loved it!

Thank you Couture Beauty Team for this amazing opportunity!! Check back in tomorrow for my backstage pics! :)
