Splash of Summer

6.30.2011

[dress/jacket: closet find, heels: jessica simpson~bday gift from jud, sunglasses: electric]

A dash of red, hint of orange, mixed with yellow, and a splash of blue. Looked like someone had fun designing the textile print for this dress! With all the bold colors, it reminds me of a beautiful sunset drifting off into the ocean waters. Kind of like from my SF trip here (minus some shades of red). The SF place was sooooo romantic - a must see! There's also a hike trail nearby (how fun!). If I lived in San Francisco, I'd probably be here every week just for the view. Sometimes the best things in are free; and I would say this definitely falls under that category. So if you happen to be in the SF neighborhood, escape for a couple minutes to enjoy the sunset scenery. It's absolutely breathtaking.

Cynthia Rowley Resort 2012

6.29.2011

Good thing you weren't in the same room as me when I came across this collection. My jaw seriously dropped as I clicked on through the images of the Cynthia Rowley Resort 2012 line. For some reason it seemed to have that perfect balance between femininity, classic, and timeless that just attracted me to everything.

The resort collection was filled with many great styles of neutrals and simplicity giving a chic, effortless look. Now if only we could all roll out of bed and look that amazing in 10 minutes right? Maybe give us 30. ;)

Greenery

6.28.2011

[dress: bought years ago from VS, cardy: tilly's, heels: guess~gifted from jud]

*Sighhhh* Mother nature is a thing of beauty isn't she? This may look like a park setting but, actually, it's the front of the house! That tree is REALLY tall in person-probably more than 10x my size! I felt like I could grab a chair, read a book and be at peace. Any good book recommendations? :)

Fascinated by Pretty Things

6.27.2011

While walking through a plaza, I could not help but to stop and stare in awe. Hey, if it's pretty, I will literally stop in my tracks and stare with amazement for a while. So please excuse me for a couple minutes...What was I looking at you may ask? Well it was this random mercantile & culinary notions store next to Plum's Cafe called Fleur de Lys in Newport Beach.

Isn't the pink paper mache dress so eye catching? Oh my! I couldn't resist the temptation and had to touch it for myself. It felt like - for a moment - I drifted off into a dream and was standing there watching them put it all together...simply amazing!

Food for Fridays: Plum's Cafe, Costa Mesa

6.24.2011

"Where shall we eat?" "I don't know, let's YELP something."

And so we did. Eventually, we all came to a conclusion: Plum's Cafe in Costa Mesa.

Menu:
1. Alderwood smoked salmon hash - the egg definitely adds a nice touch to the salmon.
2. Northwest berry waffle - light and fresh.
3. Santa Fe eggs benedict - yummy. I don't think you can mess this dish up.
4. Plums famous dutch baby - sweet but not too sweet. The perfect way to end our meal.
5. Mimosas and oregon berry bellinis - you can never have enough right? For about $25 a bottle, let's keep them coming. ;)

First time ever EVERYONE in the car left very satisfied with all the food choices. This was definitely a great, fun experience and I highly recommend coming here. We really enjoyed everything. Try it for yourself!

Bon appetit!~!

It's Our Day

6.22.2011

[dress: gifted from judith, heels: jessica simpson~gifted from jud too]

"You are what I never knew I always wanted."

To celebrate our Decade of LOVE, the bf and I had a full day planned in LA.

Shop.Eat.Eat(again).Hollywood.Park.Sunset.Eat.

Hmm I see a pattern. We also wanted to catch one of the museums up there but ran out of time. Luckily, Los Angeles isn't too far so we can always go back and check out other new places. And you know what? Sometimes unplanned plans work out for the better. Since we didn't get to go to the museum, we found this cute little soda shop place next to the El Capitan theatre and I was super excited that they had one of those penny souvenir machines inside. FYI I love collecting those and they're so fun to make!

For me, life is about experiencing new things and enjoying the random moments. <3

Here are some pictures of what I wore to my little Kaffiekin's 25th surprise Masquerade birthday party.

Self discovery: I am obsessed with lace! That explains why I try to wear it as much as possible and any where I can haha There's something sexy yet feminine about it at the same time that I absolutely adore.

Her Surprise Masquerade Party Details

6.20.2011

[Kaf's dress: designed by Kaf, Kaf's mask: made by Sus from Kaf's dress fabric]

It was definitely the best way to celebrate Kaf's 25th birthday. She was indeed surprised and LOVED the event. She deserves many good things in life and it was a great time to show her how special and important she is to us all.

Hands down to my youngest sister, Sus, for planning, organizing, AND decorating Kaf's surprise 25th birthday party! Of course I helped where needed, but credits to her for her gifted creativity. Sus even handmade all the signs and masks - talented is she? Also thanks to Jud for helping with the food.

The highlight for many for the night was the moment I brought out the birthday cake. Everyone was truly amazed by the flaming flower on top of her cake haha It was like we were all kids again oohing and ahhing at the bright light. I've seen it a couple times already but each time I'm still in awe. After all, it's no ordinary candle: it starts out closed like a bud then shoots up like a firework and then blooms out into a flower while singing Happy Birthday! Crazy huh?!? You have to see it for yourself to believe it. Trust - it's that amazing!

Endless thanks to all our great friends who came out and made Kaf's birthday extra special. You all mean a lot to her and to us. <3

Food for Fridays: Chili's

6.17.2011

Boy have I missed you! It feels like FOREVER since I've last blogged. Pardon my absence but this has been one unusual, crazy week for me...I have so many things to share but, in the mean time, hope you enjoy my Food for Fridays post! :)

To celebrate my birthday, my dear friends Kelly and Christina took me out to Chili's. I love it when all my girlfriends get together but it seems like as we get older, we get busier, and tend to see each other only on holidays, birthdays, and the occasional happy hour nights. Although I usually like seeing everyone together, this year just didn't seem like a possibility. So it was very sweet of them to treat me out to this nice, intimate dinner. <3

Menu:
1. Crispy onion & jalapeno stack - yummy we likey! My friends were really enjoying the jalapenos haha
2. Baby back ribs with Shiner Bock BBQ sauce - it was okay but that's only cause I am sad that they took away the habanero rib flavor. Their habanero sauce with a spicy kick was so much better! Maybe they'll bring it back. [crossing fingers]
3. Tropical sunrise margarita - doesn't it look so pretty? Caught my eye at first glance and it has a subtle alcohol taste to it.
4. Chocolate molten cake with ice cream - this is the whole point of going here. I'm serious!

*Please note that I am a LOVER OF CHOCOLATE CAKE so I may be a little biased. But everyone who I have introduced this incredible dessert to has all loved it. Yup, it's that good.

Bon appetit!~!

Something to Think About...

6.11.2011

"Eleven Hints for Life"

1. It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return. But what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.

2. A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go.

3. The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

4. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

5. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone-but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.

6. Don't go for looks, they can deceive. Don't go for wealth,
even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you
smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day
seem bright.

7. Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, be what you want to be. Because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

8. Always put yourself in the other's shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.

9. A careless word may kindle strife. A cruel word may wreck a life. A timely word may level stress. But a loving word may heal and bless.

10. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

11. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with a tear. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one smiling and everyone around you is crying.
