Food for Fridays: Cosi, Costa Mesa

9.30.2011

On a random adventure day with Jud (I forgot what we were doing), we got really hungry and exited the freeway to find something to eat. Some how we ended up at South Coast Metro Plaza and decided to try Cosi. The ambiance reminded me a lot of Corner Bakery except this place has pizza! And you know how I do love me some pizza so we definitely had to get that.

Menu:
1. Smoky BBQ chicken flatbread pizza - when it's just 2 people eating, this is plenty to share. The toppings tasted really fresh and light. I also liked how it was a flatbread pizza, which made it a good combination between dough-y and crispy.
2. Cinnamon apple pie - if you want a sweet sugar rush, this will give it to you. I like sweets but I've noticed that my sweet buds are starting to not like things too sweet anymore. Jud, on the other hand, loved it (her sweet buds are working fine haha).

I must also mention that their service was excellent. We came here kind of late and they still helped us out with no hesitation. Friendly service is muy importante nowadays - #2 on what I look at when eating at places. After all, if the service isn't good then how can you enjoy your food? Lucky enough, they don't have to worry about that here!

Bon appetit!~!

Style Week OC

9.29.2011

It's officially starting tomorrow! Are you ready for Style Week OC? I am!

To celebrate, Irvine Spectrum and Fashion Island will be having fashion shows and celebrity guests from September 30th to October 8th. Some of the designers are even making an appearance at their fashion show! How cool is that?

I'm also super excited because I am going to be working at some of the shows, as well as watching some of them (there's so many I want to see them all!). This is going to be a busy week but I am definitely looking forward to it. Don't worry I'll be sure to post up some pictures of the fashion shows in case you can't make it or live out of state. If you are in the OC neighborhood, you can check out their schedule here. Enjoy!

Approved for Work

9.28.2011

[top/skirt: F21, cardy: tilly's, shoes: aldo]

Black, black, and black usually comes to mind when dressing "business-y" for work. Last week I was getting ready for a lunch date in my little sister's room and she looked at me and said, "Hey, I like that outfit. I can wear it for work." Random right? I guess this outfit has her Stamp of Approval!

Orange

9.26.2011

[top: Charlotte Russe, jeans: F21, wedges: qupid]

Every time I wear these orange jeans (yes, they're orange), I feel like it's Halloween. It is just around the corner so I guess it fits. Speaking of Halloween, what should I be this year? Any ideas? Each year it seems like the challenge is trying to figure something new to be, especially since I love designing my own costumes. So far I have no clue what to do and it's about a month away. I need to start chop chopping!

Food for Fridays: Slaters 50/50

9.23.2011

Went here for a bday with friends, and by friends, I mean boys. Loud boys so this burger place seemed perfect to blend in all the crazy laughter cause we can get a little noisy sometimes. And, it was a birthday so we had to celebrate!

FYI at Slaters 50/50, you can "custom design" your own burger or try one of their signature burgers! There's a lot of variety to choose from.

Menu:
1. Vampire dip - SO GOOD does not even begin to describe it! Seriously! I would file this dish under "The best appetizer I ever ate" category. You can't go wrong combining garlic, cheese, and artichoke. What's not to like right?
2. Appetizer sampler - well, if you tried the vampire dip first like I did, then you may be slightly disappointed by the sampler like me. Plus, it was a lot of fried food and I don't really like to eat that much.
3. Maple bacon milkshake - ever curious to try it? Well, the bf ordered it so I took a sip and didn't like it. Bacon in a milkshake tastes weird, if not confusing to your palette and mind.
4. The 50/50 burger - this is their most popular patty: half meat, half bacon. Yup, more bacon so I obviously did not like this one but some of my friends did. And warning, these burgers are pretty big so sharing is highly recommended!
5. The flamin' hot burger - this one had a spicy kick to it, which was interesting. I liked it better than the 50/50 burger but after some time I couldn't eat it anymore. Too spicy!

The closest Slaters 50/50 to me used to be the one in Anaheim near the Angels Stadium. Now they just opened one up (literally) down the street from me! How convenient is that? Super convenient I tell ya! Anyone want to join me for some vampire dip?

Elegant

9.21.2011

[gown: Nicole Miller, heels: c/o Bakers, sequin jacket: Volcom]

Want to know a secret? One of my favorite things to do is dressing up - it's the fun part of being a girl. Oh how I love planning out what to wear for a birthday, wedding, GNO (Girl's Night Out), etc. Whenever one of those occasions pop up, images of outfits quickly flash through my mind. Hmm...what am I going to wear? Then it hits me and I have just the outfit!

Here I am wearing a floor-length Nicole Miller gown with black lace-back heels and a sequin crop jacket. Something simple and elegant for a fall family wedding. Now I usually have my hair down and curled but I decided to change it up a bit by having an up-do. Can you tell I did my own hair? Not too shabby right? (I only had 10 minutes.)

Random fun fact: In high school, I used to do my gf's hair for winter formal and prom. Idk why she would ask me because I really didn't have any experience but I can't say no, you know? Thank goodness it turned out well and she liked it! Phew!

Nautical

[tank: f21, skirt/belt: closet find, jacket: a&f, heels: qupid, bag: h&m]

My fall must have: a nautical skirt. There's something about the versatility of it. Here I wore it with a tank for a casual brunch date but I can also picture it with a black blouse for work or a colored corset for a GNO. Hmm I can already tell this nautical skirt is slowly becoming my new favorite obsession.

Transition

[top: gap, cardy: foreign exchange, leggings: f21, boots: bamboo]

As we transition from summer to fall, the weather is very indecisive. One day it'll be hot and the next day cold. Although I love wearing dresses, I'm kind of looking forward to wearing all my cute fall boots again.

Food for Fridays: Las Brisas, Laguna Beach

9.16.2011

Anyone heading to the beach this weekend? Well, if you are in the Laguna Beach neighborhood and craving some tacos, come check out Las Brisas with its amazing beachfront view!

Menu:
1. Ultimate Leblon Caipirinhas (nope, I don't know how to say that either! haha) - I liked it! But drinker beware cause it's also a little stronger than you'd think.
2. Mango ceviche - a tropical twist to the regular shrimp ceviche. I'm not a crazy mango person so I kind of prefer the normal ceviche better.
3. Fish tacos - pretty good but also not enough. Two tacos won't fill me up. Another serving please!
4. Pina colada -light and easy to drink. How Jud & I ended our brunch date ;)

FYI we sat outside in the patio here and there's valet parking but it fills up quickly (hence, limited parking). Also, it is a little pricier than what you'd normally pay but it comes with a scenic view so yeah...Oh! Their nachos also looked really good but we were too full to order it. Maybe you can try it!

Bon appetit!~!

Cutout Textiles

9.15.2011

[tunic/tights: f21, cardy: tilly's, bag: h&m, heels: c/0 Bakers]

I love the little details in clothes: a scalloped-edge tunic, cutout knit tights, crochet bag, and lace-up heels. They are all individually unique pieces but pair them together and there's a fun variety of textiles. That's what makes fashion so beautiful.

Disney's California Adventure 2011

On the first day we used our Disneyland Passport, we went to both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure. We couldn't resist and were so eager to try rides on both themes parks. Our favorite thing here is the Bug show: It's Tough Being A Bug. It's super cute! There was also the new ride featuring my favorite Disney princess, Ariel. I was singing along to the songs and the bf thought I was a little crazy. Sometimes when you're in the moment, who cares right? As for the scariest ride, it was definitely the Hollywood Tower. Can you tell from my reaction in the picture? I was holding on for dear life. The bf really liked it but all that up & down threw me off and made me dizzy. In my defense, I do get a little motion sickness so fast moving rides are no bueno for me. :( Good thing there's always those motion sickness medicine. Never tried it but maybe I'll look into it...

Happy Thursday my dears!
