Ready For A Change

2.29.2012

Outfit Details: unknown top/pants, f21 blazer, H by Halston heels, Fendi glasses, f21/Charlotte Russe accessories

Guess what? I found out that I got accepted into a Master of Social Work program so I'm super excited! It doesn't start til this Fall but I think it's going to be a life changing event that will involve endless study nights (who wants to join me at the library? haha). However, once I'm done I can go out and help change lives which is probably one of the best feelings in the world so it'll be worth it and I can't wait!

Happy Leap Day/Year Everyone!

Sending love,

kimberly

P.S. Did you know Disneyland is open 24 hours since it's a leap day? Whoa, crazy huh? I think I might try to use my pass and stop by. ;)

P.P.S. Kind of funny but this was the exact outfit I was wearing when I found out about my graduate school acceptance. What a coincidence I happen to be posting about it right now too!

Bring on the Bold

2.28.2012

Outfit Details: Gap top, f21 skirt, Foreign Exchange jacket, digi soho heels, Electric sunglasses, DIY hand accessory

Bold colors for Spring? Check! I love mixing colors in an outfit, especially this blue & green combo. Sadly it was raining yesterday but once this "winter-transitioning-to-spring" weather goes away, I can't wait to wear more skirts. Bundling up like an eskimo is not my favorite look...plus I don't like the cold unless I'm snuggled under a warm blanket with some hot cocoa!

Sending love,

Food for Fridays: Jerry's Famous Deli

2.24.2012

Went to Jerry's Famous Deli in Costa Mesa with my sisters and friends.

It had such cute decor inside - bright lights and an oldies kind of feel.

Salami NY sandwich $14.15 - our friend ordered this. Look how much meat that is! OMG I don't think I would've been able to handle that haha
Reuben NY sandwich $16.95 - I had a bite of this and it was good. Usually I don't like sauerkraut (I had it in NYC on a hot dog and it totally threw me off because I thought it was onions...it's not), but it was subtle here.

Turkey, avocado, swiss panini $10.65 - light, fresh-tasting, and easy-to-eat. The green salad dressing was creamy and different. We liked it. Plus, you can always use it as a spread/dip for your sandwich.

Tuna salad, capers, avocado, muenster panini $10.65 - I thought I'd be a little adventurous and ordered this (my first choice was the turkey, avocado, swiss but my sisters both got it so yeah...). I didn't want anything too heavy and this was just right. I also liked how the breads were not greasy (such a turnoff when you get a greasy sandwich).

Jerry's Famous Deli has a such a variety of sandwiches how can anyone decide? To add to that, most sandwiches come in "LA" and "NY" style meats. Who knew there was a difference right? Apparently there is. They also have a list of desserts that take up half a page of their menu! I wanted to try some but was too full. Note to self: bring a partner to share a sandwich so we can get some dessert. Sharing is caring - especially when it comes to food! ;)

Bon appetit!~!

Meeting Comedian Jo Koy

[Outfit Details: foreign exchange jacket, unknown top, volcom skirt, digi soho heels, electric sunglasses]

Had a surprise date night last week with the bf and some friends. For a whole week I kept wondering where we were going...he ended up surprising me with tickets to watch Jo Koy at the Irvine Improv! Have you seen him on the Chelsea Lately show? He's funny but, in person, he is freaken hi-lar-i-ous! And you know what else? Jo Koy can SING! By the end of the night we were all karaoke-ing to our favorite 90's tunes. I mean, how can you not have a blast reminisicing about the songs from your childhood past? Oh man, I loved it!

If Jo Koy's performing at a local improv near you, I highly recommend you catching his show! Definitely worth it and makes a great date night place!

Another Way to Wear a Scarf

2.23.2012

Outfit Details: Volcom sweater/scarf, unknown dress, qupid heels, fendi glasses, accessories from personal collection

It was a little cold the other day but I really wanted to wear a dress. Being the stubborn person that I am, I was not going to wear pants. So I wore my dress and threw on some floral patterned tights to keep me [somewhat] warm. Luckily I grabbed a scarf before heading out the door and instead of the usual way of wearing it, I tied it into a bow. You like? Sometimes these random ideas come into my head...and I like experimenting so why not. Fashion is not about following the norm - it's about having fun and trying new looks! ;)

Valentine's Day & Night

2.20.2012

Outfit #1 Details: f21 top, self-made skirt, belt from Canada, inc. heels, electric sunglasses

Outfit #2 Details: unknown blouse, self-made skirt, ideology fur jacket, bakers heels, steve madden clutch

Sorry for the late outfit post of my Valentine's Day outfit but here it is! For this special day I decided to make my own pink skirt (I actually had another skirt in mind but that'll be for next time). During the day I was very festive with the holiday theme and paired the pink skirt with a red top. While at night, I added a little "luxe" to the look with the gray fur jacket. One skirt, two looks. Made changing wardrobe for the day that much easier.

Happy Monday/President's Day Everyone!

Food for Fridays: Houston's, Newport Beach

2.17.2012

For Valentine's Day, the bf took me out to Houston's in Newport Beach.
It was quite romantic and to celebrate, we had to have a glass of wine. I had the Whitehall Lane Merlot and he told our waitress to surprise with a red blended wine - both were good and light which complimented our meaty meal.

Caesar salad $5 (when added to your entree dish) - I liked this! It had an "eggless" dressing so it wasn't thick and creamy and tasted more like a vinaigrette.

Roasted Prime Rib $32 - tender and juicy...we order "medium" and got "medium well" but it was still good.

Rotisserie chicken $20 - loved the apricot glaze and the couscous that went along with it!
Pear tart a la mode $8 - there wasn't enough ice cream so we ordered more which surprisingly was an additional $5! We didn't like this dessert as much because it was a little too sweet for us. Maybe we're old or something cause we like desserts but we don't like them so sweet.

Overall, it was a lovely Valentine's dinner and a great romantic place to go on a date. The food came out really really fast-like within 15-20 minutes! That was quite impressive AND they also carry dessert wines here which not a lot of restaurants have that. I was tempted to order a glass but, sadly, I was too full. I'll just have to try it the next time I'm back...maybe for happy hour.

Bon appetit!~!

Sending love,
kimberly

A Special Occassion Calls for a Limo

2.16.2012

Happy birthday to my dearest Christina!

Over the weekend we got a Hummer limo for her LA birthday celebration. It was her first time riding in a limo so it made it even more special. We also had a table reserved at Belasco and guess what? DJ Skrillex happened to be performing that night! I've never heard him before (or maybe I did but didn't really know who he was) but the crowd was going insanely wild. Can you tell by the pictures? Seriously, the crowd and energy was amazing!

My Outfit Details:

[foreign exchange dress, bakers heels, f21 necklace, coach bangle]

I had so much fun partying with my girlfriends and now I can't wait for our Vegas trip! It's going to be a blast I already know it! ;)
