Food for Fridays: Red Rock, West Hollywood

3.30.2012

It feels like forever since my last Food for Fridays post huh? It's not that I had forgotten about it cause I've been trying a LOT of new places...trust. Just most of them I didn't feel like I would blog about to recommend to you that's all.

So now I've got one and I'm ready to tell you! :D After the LA fashion show that Jud and I went to in West Hollywood, we decided to grab a bite somewhere in the local neighborhood. Well it turns out right across the street was Red Rock Bar & Eatery. Sure, we thought, let's give it a try.

CocoUp $8 and Pear Blossom Tini $8 - I liked the flavor of the Pear Blossom Tini more. It was also a little stronger so one drink was good for me.

Red Rock Nachos $8 - The waitress said this dish was their most popular so definitely had to try it. OMG it was soooo good! Plenty of melted cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa all over multi-colored chips! I like places that serve multi-colored chips. It just looks more fun to eat doesn't it? We devoured this dish and enjoyed every bite. Any nacho lovers out there? You must order this!

Americano pizza $14 - fresh, crispy, and tasty. I really craving a burger (they had a jalepeno burger AND a lamb burger) but the waitress said their pizzas was one of their top sellers and then the burgers so we got a pizza. This was the time when it would've been nice to have one more person dining with us so we could've tried a burger too! haha

What's also nice at this place was the view of the Sunset Strip. Seriously, you never know what you're going to see while dining in LA and it's true! A whole herd of 20+ bikers came up next to us and some of them had HORNS on their helmets! Yup, I said horns. How crazy cool is that?! Random? Yes. Would we ever see that in OC? No. Got to love the spontaneity in life!

Bon appetit!~!

Sending love,

CHECK IT OUT: Red Rock Bar & Eatery, 8782 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA.

P.S. Our waitress was totally amazing! She was so nice and super funny! I don't remember her name (sorry) but you can't miss her spunky personality! Thanks for the food recommendations and great service missy! :D

WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR: LA Fashion Show SP2012

Outfit Details: unknown top, Volcom dress, Bakers heels, Steve Madden clutch, self-designed/self-made hand accessory

Many years ago (and still to this day), my little sisters and I used to joke around and ask each other "What am I going to wear?" whenever we had an event to go to. I hear this question pop up so often that I've decided to create a new label (have you seen the labels on the side of my blog? Check them out it's very helpful when looking for specific blog topics!) called "What Am I Going to Wear" (super creative, I know) where I'll blog about tips on outfit ideas.

So if you're going to a fashion show, what are you going to wear? That depends on: 1) where is it going to be at and 2) what season is it for. For this post, since I was attending an LA fashion show, I wanted to wear something comfortable and easy to move in. Plus, with spring being here and Easter around the corner, I wanted to wear some pastel colors. Mint is such a hot color to wear right now and I love how it can pretty much go with anything - yes, anything! I specifically love mint paired with the soft pink. Something about those two colors together definitely brings springtime sunshine to my eyes.

P.S. I'm frequently asked who takes the pictures on my blog and it's usually the bf, little sisters, Jud (aka honorary sister), myself, or otherwise listed/linked (photographers, etc). The above pics were taken by my awesome Jud. <3

Love Fashion LA Fashion Show

Attended the Love Fashion LA fashion show at Live! On Sunset with my dearest Jud last week!

Upon entrance, this enormous decor caught my eye. No one would miss it. It's probably almost the size of a real life baby elephant!

Next, we got to go around the store and check out the amazing clothes.

I totally love the design and colors for this dress - it's feminine and fun. Something I would definitely wear.

This dress was also super cute!

Commando panties anyone?

Perks of the fashion show? Complimentary drinks and treats! Mmmm...we definitely enjoyed the pink moscato wine. ;)

And these cupcakes? OMG they were so good! I tried both the vanilla and chocolate! Surprisingly, the vanilla one was better (and I'm a huge chocolate lover too)!

Goodie bags to load us up on a sugar high. I think it worked...we started to combos and ate the pink gummy bears with the chocolate balls. The result? BAM! A chocolate-covered-gummy-bear! Genius idea jud. Genius.

The fashion started and shocked us all. Music was blasting and people were dancing.

Then the dancers started modeling down the walkway and you begin to realize that the dancers are also the models!

Talk about nonstop entertainment!

It was quite enjoyable to see and I really liked the concept.

Maybe this will be a new trend for future fashion shows?

Any time, any where. Whenever we're together, we'll always have fun! Heart this girl!

*Special THANKS to my good friend and fellow blogger Jo Jo from Love Fashion Live Life for the invitation! It was a bummer you couldn't make it but you were definitely there in spirit! (Hmm maybe that's why I had TWO cupcakes...) Can't wait for our next gathering dear!

Sending love,

P.S. More outfit pics to come on my next blog post! ;)

P.P.S. I got an AWESOME video of the models dancing! Trying to figure out how to post it because it is taking longer than expected to upload...

Fashion Star

3.27.2012

via

Who's watching this show with me?? Are you addicted too? NBC's Fashion Star is the best new show out there for up-and-coming designers! It is unlike any other fashion designer shows out there because there are actual BUYERS from Macy's, Sak's Fifth Avenue, and H&M who [if interested] will make an offer to the designers to sell the clothes in their stores and online...the very next day!! WOW! As someone who likes designing for fun, this totally blows my mind and I'm so excited to watch the creativity come alive on screen.

Genius! Incredible! Amazing!

"Watch it today. Wear it tomorrow." Watch and support this show!

Neutral Lighting

3.26.2012

Outfit Details: Unknown top/skirt, CC necklace/bracelet

Was in the neutral mood and threw this outfit together! It's super simple and easy - you'll be dressed in 10! I wore a loose sheer coral top (looks pale in the pics from camera lighting) with a creme draped skirt. Then I piled on statement accessory pieces and voila! Perfect and ready for a date night out! ;)

Leopard Spots

3.20.2012

Outfit Details: unknown top, Volcom skirt, qupid wedges, CC necklace, Electric sunglasses (borrowed from Jud)

Now I don't normally wear leopard...I was just never drawn to it. Idk why but I always felt weird wearing animal print on me (as if I would be lugging around a critter) but then a friend gave me a leopard top for my birthday and so I had to wear it or at least give it a try. Well, that's when my view on leopard print changed...a bit. Since that one leopard top, it's slightly opened doors for me to wear this textile print a little more.

The above leopard skirt (a gift from the bf) is the second leopard thing I own. Although it's a lot of leopard spots going on (to me it feels like that since it's covering more than half my body), I like how it remains to be a subtle print (there's some extravagant leopard print stuff out there and those are no-no's). However, it doesn't change the fact that I still do feel weird wearing and seeing myself in leopard (need to get used to it) BUT I'm not as opposed to leopard prints as I was before. Funny how you can not like something for so many years and then one day - POW - you start changing your mind. Another good example of "never say never" because you really don't know what can happen in the future. Sighhhh Problems of a fashion girl huh?

High School Flashback

3.19.2012

Outfit Details: self-designed / self-made dress, Chinese Laundry lace heels, Charlie clutch, Volcom crop jacket

Rewind time. About 10 years. Now fast forward it 10 years. That's how my high school reunion felt like to me. Last Friday I got to reunite with daily friendly faces and friends I haven't seen since high school! WOW can't believe 10 years has already past! We pretty much looked the same, just slightly older.

With this special occassion, I thought I'd make a special dress. Although our theme was black and white, I ended up wearing silver/gray (I wore black heels does that count? haha). This fabric just called out my name. When I first saw it I knew I had to have it and with it, came this design.

It was so nice to see everyone! Even if it was only for a couple seconds. Although we may get older and may not be as close as we used to be when we were younger, we'll always have our high school memories and that will never fade away.

***SPECIAL THANKS to: my fellow BGHS 2002 Class Officers for organizing the event (we did a great job well-done), Mon Cheri Restaurant for the beautiful venue location, DJ Temoc Chavez for playing great dance tracks throughout the night, Souverazzi Photo Booth for the fun silly pics, Paz & Pasteles for the amazing dessert bar, and to everyone who came out! It definitely was a blast from the past!

Until next time,

Sending love,

kimberly

XS the Night Away

3.15.2012

Outfit Details: self-designed & self-made dress/accessory, Bakers heels

Saturday was the night when all the girls would be together. The birthday girl wanted to go to XS at Encore and so we did. I was happy to be able to wear my self-designed/self-made dress and accessory. After all, there's nothing more enjoyable than wearing your own piece of artwork. Especially with all my blood, sweat, and tears that went into it!

Happy birthday to Denise (she's the one in hot pink)! This Vegas trip wouldn't have happened if it weren't for you! Free table service and sipping on Dom Perignon champagne, what's not to love? Such a fun girls trip that I can't wait til our next one!
