Leopard + Fushcia in San Diego

8.31.2012

Outfit Details: gifted leopard tank from Kel bell, F21 fushcia skirt/belt, gifted Bakers ruched booties, Papers & Peonies stacked rings/claw bracelet, H&M gold bow ring

Last weekend, my little sisters (aka sisteroos) and I went to San Diego to celebrate one of our girlfriend's birthday. Like most days, I wasn't really sure what to wear. Usually something catches my eyes and I work an outfit around that but this time, nothing was popping in my head (it could be because I still have to finish hanging all my clothes and haven't done so yet...). Finally, between switching from my walk-in closet to my standing wardrobe, I decided upon this leopard print top my sweet Kel bell gave to me. When I first put it on, I paired it with shorts since it's been so so hot lately. I didn't like it. Too casual. So off it went and I aimlessly looked around my room again for something else to wear...and there it was. The answer to my dilemma! Hidden in my clean laundry basket was my Forever21 fushcia skirt I bought not that long ago during a lunch shopping trip with my coworker. I threw it on and BOOM! Match made in heaven. Had my perfect outfit for the night and it only took me 10 minutes! Okay, maybe 15 lol

Luckily San Diego isn't too far from OC, about 1.5 hours depending where you're going. The hotspot, though, has got to be downtown SD at the Gaslamp Quarters so of course we went there. I usually like roaming the streets and trying some of the food here (since we've already drove for so long) but this was a quick one night trip so we met up the birthday girl and painted the town. It was kind of random but I liked it. Definitely a fun night with great people. Can't complain about that!

Happy birthday to my beautiful Linh! Isn't she so gorgeous? AND she's smart! Beauty + brains = hotness in my book!

Hope you're all drinking lots and lots of water! Have a great Labor Day weekend Everyone!!

P.S. Sorry for the slightly blurry photos. The Canon S100 does not take as good of night pictures as the Canon S95 did. :( Man I miss that function! Hope the next Canon has it cause if it does, I'm going to upgrade! ;) And the last pic was on my camera phone so it's not as clear...oh wells.

Macy's SCP Event: Couture Designer B. Michael

8.30.2012

After the Neiman Marcus Trend Preview fashion show, I stopped by Macy's at South Coast Plaza to check out couture designer B. Michael's new B Michael America Red collection. He also happens to be the costumer for Whitney Houston's movie, The Sparkle, which is currently out in theatres.

Like any in-store event, some yummy bubbly was served. (I really liked the floral arrangement here, so wanted to take it home)

Let's not forget something sweet. This cupcake looks big but it actually a mini version (so cute!) and very very delicious! Mmmm

The B. Michael America Red line carried sophisticated dresses and jackets in netural/bold colors designed for the professional woman. Sounds like you? Well then stop by your nearest Macy's to check out his stuff.

A store event has to, yes HAS TO, have music and awesome beats were played by no other than DJ Miss Ninja!

She's such a sweetheart! You can find DJ Miss Ninja playing at many cool LA hot spots. Find her here!

B. Michael with his models and the SCP Macy's team. Good job guys!

Fun facts: The B. Michael America Red collection happens to be made in America (yup, NYC to be exact) and all the linings in the clothes are red to represent America. Pretty creative huh? I love it when designers think of every little detail with a purpose behind everything they create. It just makes their work that much more meaningful.

Fab Sugar x Madewell #mixwellwithfab

8.27.2012

FabSugar joined forces with Madewell to create a nationwide style event for all Madewell stores and I thought it'd be fun to participate. So off I went to my nearest Madewell store at South Coast Plaza and joined in with the festivities!

Champagne AND macarons?!? I mean, who can say no to that? You know I couldn't!

Seriously, I could not stop eating these tasty macarons from Queen's Bakery. De-lish! Umm guilty confession: I almost tried all 6 flavors! I know, shame shame...hey don't judge! I have a sweet tooth okay? (Must be that little kid still inside me, she's always hungry I tell you)

Some of the clothes I picked out from the store to try on. I've heard of Madewell for awhile now but never went inside to check out their clothes. And you know what? They have a lot of cool stuff!

So here I am. In the dressing room. Taking a pic of what I wore that day. Consider this the "Before" shot? And FYI: I felt really weird taking pictures of myself in the dressing room so please pardon my awkward smiles in the next photos below. Okay, now onto my Madewell outfits that I put together...

Look #1: Very casual and simple look for fall. I wore this super cute bow sweater over a collar shirt and jeans. A 3 piece outfit that anyone can do.

Look #2: denim on denim. Maybe the picture doesn't show off how adorable these floral jeans were but I really really liked them. However for 200 bucks, I'll just have to wait awhile til I get my hands on one of these.

Look #3: feeling the coral vibe. Something about this color...me likey. Not too pink (ugh, I am NOT a pink person) and not too macho. Has just the right amount of girliness to me and this purse? Swoon! It's so my bag style: easy to wear and not bulky. Now I wish I got it! Hmm, wonder if it's still available...

Look #4 (one of my favs): lacey brights. At first when I tried on this outfit I actually wore the lace top under the purple sweater. I didn't like it. So I switched it around and voila! Totally new, totally cool outfit inspiration! You should so try this too! *Ahem* Can I start a fall trend going on? hehehe

Look #5 (my fav outfit of the night): dots dots and more dots. Found these hidden polka dot shorts in between racks in the weirdest spot. I don't even know why I was looking there but glad I did. Don't you just love them? Especially with the navy lace top huh? In case you don't know by now, blue is the new black this coming season hint hint. So now you know!

This was my first in-store style event and it was a lot of fun! I met other fashionistas here and we enjoyed sipping and snacking on some yummy goodies. Of course we had a blast checking out the Madewell merchandise and what girl doesn't like to dress up? Thanks to FabSugar & Madewell for hosting a great event!

Food for Fridays: Sancho's Tacos, Huntington Beach

8.24.2012

Oh man these tacos were goooooooood!! After our beach day, we went to Sancho's Tacos to have a little snack. We ordered carne asada & pork tacos, burritos and some loaded nachos. Everything was really flavorful and delicious! I really liked the salsa verde too - yum! The salsa rojo had a nice kick to it for any of you spicy lovers out there. If you love tacos and nachos (and c'mon, who doesn't?), come and get some here at Sancho's Tacos!

FYI this place is kind of hidden on PCH so keep a lookout for it (after RA Sushi) and they're open somewhat late (til 9pm on weekdays & 2am on weekends). After a long fun day at Huntington Beach, this was the perfect place to grab a bite to eat and continue relaxing with friends. Sometimes the best times are those shared over a good meal and this was definitely one of them!

Bon appetit!~!

WHAT I WORE: Neiman Marcus Fashion Show 2012 - White Mesh

8.23.2012

Outfit Details: white mesh sequin dress, F21 belt from Seattle trip, MRKT nude platform sandals, thrifted Sak crochet bag, Express floral necklace, H&M/Hawaii/Turkey friendship bracelets

Here are some pics from what I wore to the Neiman Marcus Trend Preview fashion show last week. I bought this white mesh dress a couple months ago and recently found it hidden in my closet (isn't it awesome when that happens? Feels like you just won the lottery & scored some free shopping in your own closet!). With summer coming to a near end, I thought I should bring it out to play - and why not to a fashion show? You can't see it in the pics but there's little pieces of sequins scattered all over the dress which makes it sparkle when you move. Oh how I love that! Since it was mostly a white outfit, I threw on the belt for a hint of added color with mostly neutral accessories. These may not be the best pics to show off the details of this dress so I'll try to take better ones next time. It's always so hard for me to take pictures when I'm wearing white. Does that happen to any of you too? Do you guys have any advice/tricks? If so, feel free to share. Thanks! ;)

Neiman Marcus - Fall Trend Preview 2012 Fashion Show

8.22.2012

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Trend Preview Fashion Show at Neiman Marcus, Fashion Island.

The private event showcased upcoming styles for the fall season. Lucky for me I got to sit at the very front row so I have some great pics to share with you!

To start off, the "Borrowed from the Boys" collection introduced thicker fabrics with a feminine twist. These thicker fabrics were usually saved for menswear but now women can wear them too.

A must-have for fall? Flats! Step away from the heels and wedges for a little bit and enjoy some comfy blinged out flats. (By the way, I really like her shimmer jeans, don't you too?!?)

Hint hint: brooches are also going to be a big hit this fall. Wear them on your clothes, bags, jackets, anywhere to add that extra oomph!

Next came the "Digital Prints" where it was all about cool computer graphics and mixing patterns. Experiment and explore!

Totally feel in love with the detailed coat and heels! The hearts on the heels are super adorable and they're actually made by London designer Charlotte who's favorite childhood book was Charlotte's Web. So whenever you see her heels, check the bottom for her trademark web logo. So cute!

One dress, 3 looks. All by simply changing the jacket. It's a great way to find new ways to wear your clothes for different occasions.

The last collection "Just Because" says it already. So get dolled up and be extravagant...just because you want to!

I was beyond excited holding this GORGEOUS Alexander McQueen knuckle clutch! Look how creatively designed it is! Oh my, and it was pretty heavy.

Reunited with the lovely model Lindy who I met at a previous fashion show when I was a dresser. It was so nice to see her again. Fun times!

Everyone was drooling over the designer pieces from Rachel Zoe, Prada, Jill Stuart, Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, and many more! Here's another fashion tip: "blue" is going to be the new "black" this fall and green will be popping up frequently too. So I'm looking forward to that and more flats this coming season. What fall trend are you most excited about?

Fringing It

8.21.2012

Outfit Details: Forever21 ruffle top, Volcom striped skirt, fringe purse c/o LULU'S (seen here, may be sold out soon), Electric sunglasses, Material Girl cutout sandals

Cleaning out my closet to see what I can donate and some things I just can't let go...at least not yet. Including this green ruffle F21 top I've had for a while now and the striped Volcom skirt! As usual, I tend to plan most of my outfits day of - correction: morning of. And all I knew on this particular day was that I wanted to wear the Lulu's fringe purse I just got. Super cool isn't it? I love how the orange color pops and it's the perfect size bag for me: not too big, not too small. Anyways, somehow when I was randomly grabbing clothes off hangers, it resulted in this outfit and off I went out the door. Next day? The same routine. Yup, that pretty much sums up how most of my mornings go.

Until next time,
