Frilled to be Here

9.28.2012

Outfit Details: dress c/o LULU'S (here) / American Rag heels (from Macy's) / Poppie Jones clutch (from DSW) / F21 belt & bracelets / earrings c/o LULU's / DIY gold hand accessory / rings from personal collection

Oh man. This "Frilled to be Here" Lulu's dress was totally calling my name! When I saw it I instantly knew I wanted it and it didn't matter where I would wear it too. The ruffles and layers-upon-layers of frills galore throughout this dress is no joke. Every where you move the dress just flowed with you and, as you can see, I couldn't help but to twirl around it over and over and over again. It was just too beautiful and I also loved the uneven hemlines (so unexpected)! You can't see it but it also has detailed beading on the top layer ruffle which added an extra hint of glam to this dress. Whoever designed this, kudos to you - you did an amazing job!

And good thing for me, I had just the perfect occassion for this insanely gorgeous Lulu's dress. Last month I surprised the bf with tickets to the Avenue Q musical playing at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. I actually saw this musical 4 years ago when I first went to NYC and it was freaken hi-lar-i-ous! Like an adult version of Sesame Street (fyi there's a lot of adult humor so do not take any kids here). Everyone who I've recommended this musical (male and female friendly) have all really liked it so I was excited to be able to finally shared this experience with the bf. We've never been to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center (great modern architecture) so it was nice to get out of OC for an evening. On top of that, we turned it into a double date night with my dear Jud and her guy. Woohoo!

On a side note, I can't believe it's Friday already. This week is going by super fast. TGIF everyone ~ hope you have an awesome weekend!

STIXIE: Essie's Breast Cancer Nail Polishes

9.26.2012

I was beyond estatic when I found out that Essie was carrying a couple PINK polishes dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness! If you know me, then you would know that I am not a pink pink person. However, I will always make the exception and be totally pinked out when it comes to spreading breast cancer awareness.

Since I was going to do the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk (pics to come), I knew I had to paint my nails with Essie's Breast Cancer Awareness polish line. It only made sense right? To make it fun, I did a two-tone diagonal design and added a strip of glitter.

WHAT I WORE: Shellac CND base coat, Essie's Check-Up, Essie's We're In It Together, Seche Vite top coat. Aren't the Essie polish names (Check-Up & We're In It Together) so cute? Perfect little reminders to continue spreading Breast Cancer Awareness. Can't help but to love that!

***A big THANK YOU to STIXIE for introducing me to this limited edition collection! If you haven't yet, go check out all their amazing beauty products here. They have a lot of really cool stuff at affordable prices! It's definitely been one of my fav go-to spots ;)

Coral + Stripes

9.21.2012

Outfit Details: striped top, Foreign Exchange skirt, F21 bag/accessories, Charles David gold heels, Electric sunglasses

It's technically still summer right? Well at least it is for today.

These pictures were taken a while back probably at the end of spring early summer but I guess they never went up on the blog so here you go!

I really really like this striped top with the sheer button back. It's one of my fav simple statement tops that I tend to wear very often, especially with colored bottoms (like this FE coral knit skirt) to give it that little exta "pop." Threw on my Charles David gold pumps (yes, I wore these gold pumps during the DAY for work) and voila! Ready and out the door in a no-fuss comfortable outfit! Don't you just love those days when everything you grab just perfectly fits your mood for that day? I sure do and this was definitely one of those days!

Happy Friday Everyone! Ready for the weekend? I am!

9.20.2012

Every now and then I stumble across old pics on my hard drive and this day happens to be one of them. So get ready! I'm going to have a mini flashback with you as I share pics from my birthday back in May (yup, I said May lol).

Celebrated with Andy from IM King Clothing! It was also their 5 Year Anniversary (*congrats!*) so we both had good reasons to party hardy. Oh yeah double celebration time!

My lovely girls who joined in on the fun. Love them all! <3>

Aww mi amour looks so handsome in white huh? ;) I likey!

Outfit Details: Foreign Exchange crop top, brocade glitter skirt, Anne Michelle heels, F21 accessories

Plenty of drinks, good music, and surrounded by amazing friends. Oh what a night indeed! We all had a total blast and danced til the lights came on (literally). I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hope you enjoyed this mini flashback and be sure to check out IM King's cool stuff here!

What I Wore: MTV VMA Fashion (Self-Designed Dress)

9.18.2012

Outfit Details: Kimberly Luu designed dress (self-designed), Digi Soho heels (from DSW), F21 purse, Papers & Peonies accessories

In case you didn't know (which *ahem* by now you should've) I wore my very own dress design to the MTV VMAs a couple weeks ago! Since Fall is right around the corner, I designed an asymmetrical burgundy colored dress with pink trim details. Paired it with my Digi Soho pale pink heels (from DSW) and my Papers & Peonies accessories (yes, I'm currently addicted to P&P) that all just happened to compliment my dress perfectly!

This is one of my newest personal designs and I really really like it - very easy to move in, very easy to wear. It's feminine and romantic with some cool modern hems. I can totally picture this dress worn at a wedding or even in a photo shoot which will probably happen pretty soon...my little sisteroo already wants to borrow it for an upcoming wedding lol

Okay, got to go for now. Toodle-luu and Happy Monday dearies!

P.S. Sorry for the delay in posts! I did warn you that I started my Masters program recently so I will be slightly preoccupied at times. Speaking of which, school is going really well and can you believe it's already midterm week for my 1st set of classes? Time sure goes by so fast!

Our Own Fashion's Night Out

9.13.2012

Outfit Details: Each dress was self-designed :)

Thursday, September 6th.

I wish I had 2 of me that day; it was SO busy. First off, I had class at 8am followed by my graduate internship from 9am-4pm then I had to head straight to LA for the MTV VMAs! Omg talked about being fully booked for an entire day huh? I don't think I ever stopped moving/thinking/doing. No, I'm sure I didn't stop. Thank goodness everything worked out and I was able to do it all. Well, almost everything...sadly, I didn't get to participate in Fashion's Night Out. Trust me I was bummed cause I had been waiting for months upon months for FNO to arrive. Who was the genius to think of putting these two big events on the same day? No bueno. Anyways, I still had an awesome time at the VMAs and enjoyed what will probably be a once-in-a-lifetime experience (and you know you can't let those opportunities pass you by). We didn't make it to FNOs but we sure did get to have our own Fashion's Night Out!

MTV VMAs @ 5PM
VMAs After Party @ 7PM
WP 24 @ 8:30PM

A live show with celebrity performances plus unlimited food & drinks while wearing our very own dress designs? Sounds like a great way to celebrate FNO to me! ;)

MTV VMAs

9.12.2012

We each are wearing our own dress designs! Funny that some people thought we were going to be Presenters at the show ;)

Our 1st (and hopefully not the last) time at the MTV VMAs

Fun fact: it took about 2 weeks to set up this massive grand stage and all the decor

The VIP treatment! First time box suite experience for us all

Host Kevin Hart & the famous guy from YouTube (what's his name? Psy?)

Our cocktails glowing with an amazing center view

So cool that Team USA Women's Gymnastics were at the event to present! I totally watched them during the Olympics (Go Team USA!)

The ever-so-talented Rihanna won best Video of the Year (LOVED her dress!)

Finale performance by Taylor Swift singing her new song, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"

I always have the best time with my two little sisteroos ~ love them!
Last Thursday I was invited to attend the MTV VMAs as a VIP guest in their Event Box Suites. I've never been to a box suite at the Staples Center before so I really wanted to check it out. To top it off? The suites came with unlimited buffet, open bar, and a dessert cart. C'mon, you know I couldn't say no to that! Luckily, I had a couple extra VMA tickets so I surprised my little sisteroos and we had a blast! Great food, yummy drinks, and an awesome LIVE show. Now who can complain about that?

After the MTV VMAs, we continued to celebrate the night (heck, we're already in LA so why not?). Went next door to the Ritz Carlton Hotel for some drinks and grabbed a couple bites at WP 24 while enjoying the panoramic LA nights lights. FYI: "WP" = Wolfgang Puck & "24" = 24th floor. This was definitely a fun night filled with lots of eating, drinking, and mingling. Can't wait to do it again!
