Get In The Mix: OC Fashion Bloggers Event

6.29.2012

Outfit Details: unknown brand red dress, Vince Camuto heels, F21 collar necklace, DIY self-made stone ring, DIY self-made hand accessory

On Wednesday I had the privilege of attending the Get In The Mix event for OC Fashion Bloggers hosted by Shout PR. Just when I was starting to wonder if there were any fashion blogger events in OC, Shout PR creates one! Pure genius I tell you! Because I think there are plenty of fashionistas here in the OC and we have a such large community to do it so why not? Plus, it sure beats having to drive to LA through the insane traffic (yes, ask anyone: it's insane).

Breatheeee. Are you ready now for picture overload of this AMAZING fashion bloggers event? Don't say I didn't warn you (it's lots and lots of pictures)...see below and enjoy!

Organic mini cupcakes created by Luscious Organic Desserts

These macarons from Lette Macarons were so yummy and there were so many flavors!

Ritual Wellness supplied delicious watermelon berry refreshments

Got to make a cool DIY wrap bracelet (will show pics in future posts). Oh yeah, we busted out our craftsmanship!

O-M-G Lulu's Clothing had so many COOL prizes for their spin-the-wheel challenge!

via
In fact, me AND Jud both won a free item from Lulu's ~ how awesome and rare is that? We totally don't win things at these wheel spinning stuff so this was a sweet surprise.

via
Lulu's had so much cute stuff that we had trouble deciding our free prizes. I mean, how can you choose just one thing from a rack full of clothes and a table filled with summer handbags?

Decisions, decisions. It was so hard for me to decide between these two fabulous pieces! I eventually went for the green lace jacket but might end up buying the pink blush dress from their website now. Hey, why not have both right? Jud ended up picking this gorgeous black & white dress seen here.

There was also a raffle with prizes of outfits from Willow & Clay, BB Dakota, Black Sheep, Matty M, & ...Lost for Her. We didn't win anything from the raffle but it's okay, we were already more than happy with our Lulu's gifts.

I also ran into Armilyn & La Tasha from the OC Fashion Association! I met them last year when I was competing in the Student Design Competition for OC Fashion Week (where I placed Top 5, see pics here) so it was great to see them again.

Photo booth time with fellow OC bloggers! Of course we had to check this out! Aren't photo booth pics the best? It's so fun to be silly and you get a keepsake to take home with you right away. What's not to love?

Erika from Shout PR was so sweet and I just adore her!

It was a blast meeting other SoCal bloggers in the OC! I reunited with old friends and made some new ones. Luckily I had my +1 Jud as my date who was also my amazing photographer for the night (unfortunately my camera broke down & stopped working so some of my pics are from my camera phone which isn't the best but it worked).

***SPECIAL THANKS to Erika, Ashley from Milk Teeths (such a doll!), and the Shout PR team for putting together such a fun-filled night! I can't wait til the next OC fashion bloggers event! :D

Sending love,
kimberly

Photo Diary: Hawaii 2012 [Day 4]

6.27.2012

Outfit Details:
sheer tunic - Volcom (gifted from the bf)
studded shorts - Obey (gifted from boss)
sunglasses - H&M (from their HM for Water collection)

Oh yes, believe it or not, we actually woke up at 4am for our sunrise hike. We were determined to make it so around 5am we left the Volcom house and headed towards the south shore of Hawaii. Since we were leaving from the north shore, it took us about 45 minutes to get to Pillbox hike. Now I don't normally hike (I would like to but there's not many places here in OC) so I was slightly intimidated at first. However, I like to take on challenges so I pushed away my scared feelings and focused on making it to the top. When we finally got there, the panoramic view of the city was just beautiful. It was a different side of Hawaii to see and we totally forgot how little sleep we had and just relished in the beauty surrounding us.

I don't know if hiking counts as a normal "tourist" attraction but if you're in Hawaii it's definitely something I recommend adding to your "To Do" list. And remember to bring a cold water bottle! Happy hiking!

I absolutely love everything about this dress and how she created this vintage/old Hollywood glamour look from head to toe! AND it's a dress from one of my fav designers Zuhair Murad who is incredibly talented (love all his detailed work)!

Have you seen the movie trailer yet?? It's so good right? Eeks I can't wait for it to come out!

SAVE THE DATE: Savages coming out July 6th. You'll know where I'll be that weekend!

Photo Diary: Hawaii 2012 [Day 3]

6.26.2012

Outfit Details: F21 crochet tank, Billabong bikini (underneath), American Rag mint high-low skirt, Carlos Santana sandals, gifted bag (made from coconuts) from Aunt in Vietnam, H&M sunglasses/feathered earrings

We stumbled upon the Hawaii Supreme Court on our way to the palace. We couldn't figure out where it was because the GPS wouldn't say which side of the street it was on! After parking and thinking we've found the palace, it turns out it was right across the street.

So we went on over across the street and here it is: the Iolani Palace. Don't they look similar?!? Kind of yeah? Well apparently, this has recently opened up to the public so we thought we'd check it out. It was interesting to learn about Hawaii (via an audio tour) and their culture.

Then we went to meet a friend to catch a bite at a local bar (will post pics on upcoming Food for Fridays post). This was a very chill, relaxing day which we needed since the next day we're were going to wake up super early for a hike. Like 4am early! :O

Stay tuned for our Day 3 sunrise pics from our hike! ;)

WHAT TO WEAR: Hawaiian Luau

6.22.2012

Outfit Details: green chiffon dress, material girl black cutout sandals, diy hand accessory, Hawaiian hair flower c/o Jud

Dress? Check.
Hair? Check.
Make-up? Check.
Okay, I'm ready for the luau (more detailed pics of our luau here)!

I chose to wear a green chiffon dress since:
a) I love green [emerald's my birth stone]
- and -
b) it was a long loose dress so I could eat as much as I want haha

Plus, the temperatures were in the crazy 80's in Hawaii so no tight-fitting clothes for us. In fact, the less clothes you wear, the better. And no heels needed. Trust!

- Having a What Am I Going to Wear moment? Let me know so I can help! ;) -

Photo Diary: Hawaii 2012 [Night 2]

Here we are at our very 1st Hawaiian luau for Kaf's birthday.

Enjoyed a nice dinner with real Hawaiian food. We even saw them roast a pig!

Our strawberry mango fruit smoothie. Mmm...loved how it came in a pineapple!

Live hula performances during dinner with live music and an MC who also gave a surprise special shoutout to Kaf for her birthday! Made her stand up as we all sang happy birthday to her. It was really, really sweet.

I know this pic is a little blurry but I really like how it has part of the hut in the back haha

We randomly went on a canoe ride and met people from New York. Both east coasters and west coasters were on a boat, together in Hawaii. What are the chances?

It was quite romantic and very beautiful here...kisses to our birthday girl Kaf!

Then off we went to see the fire show!

We sat pretty close for the fire show and the funny thing was that we were right next to the family we sat next to for dinner! With all these people, seriously, what are the odds of that?

If you ever go to Hawaii, I highly recommend checking out the luau at the Polynesian Cultural Center! There is so much to do here and it's a great place to celebrate any special occassion. We definitely had a lovely, memorable first luau experience!

***Special thanks to everyone at the Polynesian Cultural Center for your kind hospitality - you made my little sister's birthday extra special!

Photo Diary: Hawaii 2012 [Day 2]

6.21.2012

Outfit Details: F21 neon burnout tank, Volcom boardshorts, Electric sunglasses
The next morning we couldn't wait to go outside and jog on the beach! Right outside the Volcom house is Pipeline Beach where surfers like to go to practice surfing with the waves (which we happen to see on our last day).

Pina coladas on the beach - it's one of those things that you have to do in Hawaii right? Well, we can now check that off our list. ;)

Our amazing view from the 1st floor. Sighhh we miss it already.

Fun silly pics of us and our pina coladas (thanks jud for making them)! Delicious and so perfect for Hawaii!

Happy birthday Kaf! (this was her actual birthday, the 6th) We had a great morning start to your special day. Love these girls! <3

Stay tuned: up next are pics from our 1st Luau in Hawaii!
