black open-back maxi dress
Abercrombie & Fitch jean jacket
Carlos Santana studded ankle boots
tassel scarf c/o Indigenous
gifted Marc Jacobs bag from the bf

Don't you just love discovering companies that carry organic fashion? Well, just your luck. Indigenous is a fair trade fashion brand that carries organically made products. They carry many eco fashion friendly styles and artisan-made designs including tops, sweaters, scarves, coats, and more!

Even though it's technically spring, the weather right now has been quite chilly. Lucky for me, the kind folks over at Indigenous sent me this lovely tassel scarf which was perfect for this cold week in OC. It's thick and warm and the tassel edge design added a fun texture to my otherwise solid outfit.

Want a pair of your own? Check out their other color options here. Have fun shopping and supporting an eco friendly fashion brand that's worth wearing!

Until next time,

MAGIC Outfit - Day 3

3.22.2013

Outfit Details:
Elliatt top / Maison Scotch cardy c/o Briana Rene Boutique
Guess jeans (from Marie Claire x Guess event here)
Zara heels
clutch c/o Lobby Lab
starfish bracelet c/o Lili Claspe
diy Affirmation name bracelet c/o BCBGeneration

By Day 3 of MAGIC Market Week, it was starting to get cold in Vegas so I had to be more "functional" with the weather. Even though I packed almost all skirts and dresses {my wardrobe staple}, I did manage to throw in these Guess jeans (which were super comfortable btw). The grey floral print is very light which makes it versatile to go with so many different outfit choices (i.e. loose sweater, crop top, plain t-shirt, etc.). You really don't need to do much to it. I chose to wear it with this gorgeous blue lace Elliatt top (I really need to take pics of the back to show you how AMAZINGLY detailed it is ~ bravo to whoever designed this!) and a black Maison Scotch cardigan (it had these cool star patches on the sleeves and came with a gold necklace ~ a-w-e-s-o-m-e). Got these two goodies from my new discovery of local OC store, Briana Rene Boutique at The OC Mart Mix (stop by if you're in the area!). Wore my Zara heels again because, let's face it, they were comfortable and [hint hint] you walk everywhere at MAGIC. Accessorized my outfit with Lobby Lab's pleated clutch, Lili Claspe's adorable starfish bracelet, and my diy affirmation bracelet I made at the BCBG VIP lounge.

On this day I got to check out WWD MAGIC which was pretty cool. I'll have more pics of it coming up so stay tuned...and have a happy Friday everyone!

MAGIC Outfit - Day 2

3.20.2013

Outfit Details:
BB Dakota top / Willoy & Clay jacket / Black Swan skirt c/o Shout PR
clutch c/o Lobby Lab
stone bracelet / bow ring c/o Lili Claspe
diy Affirmation name bracelet c/o BCBGeneration
Zara heels

On the second day of MAGIC MARKET WEEK, I went with a neutral palette and kept to a light color scheme. This pale pink (or pale purple?) Black Swan high-low pleated skirt gave me one of those "love at first sight" kind-of-moment when I saw its feminine yet flirty hemline. Unintentionally continued with the pleats theme when I paired it with a white BB Dakota top. Topped it off {in glam style} with the cream Willow & Clay sequined jacket ~ it's really sparkly and lightweight which is a plus! Since the outfit had soft tone colors, my grey Zara heels & Lobby Lab clutch did just the trick to blend everything together. Plus, I finally got to wear pieces from one of my new favorite jewelry brands, Lili Claspe ~ her stuff is seriously amazing!

It also happened to be one of those days where you are wearing the same thing from day to night. Luckily, this outfit worked for both occasions. After dinner, my sweet roomie Leah from Factory LA took the photos below in the hotel lobby.

Which outfit pictures do you like better? The day ones from MAGIC or the night version after dinner?

Until next time,

[HIGHLIGHTS] Sourcing at MAGIC, part 1

3.18.2013

Last month I had the amazing privilege of being an Official Sourcing Blogger for MAGIC MARKET WEEK alongside Vanessa from Stylishly Me and Wendy from Bendoni Style. Read more below on my highlights of Day 1 at Sourcing at MAGIC!
For the first time ever, Sourcing at MAGIC opened its doors and gave attendees access to shop 43 countries in 4 days! Speaker Karalynn Sprouse proudly announced this was the one place stop to go to find all your sourcing needs. Clothes? Jewelry? Hangbags? Denim? Footwear? Textiles? You name it, they had it. There was a sourcing option for whatever you were looking for.
Endless aisles were filled with sourcing manufacturers who were all helpful to provide information about their services. This row displayed products made in India and the elaborate printed scarves were eye-catching - I saw many people stop and stare.
Complimentary beverages at the Opening Day Cocktail Event.
Chinese calligraphy done by the talented Han Chang Peng was very interesting to watch live. If anyone knows how to read Chinese, can you translate what it means? Thanks!
Sadly missed the Sourcing Bootcamp (this class reached capacity so fast!) but they did recommend these resourceful books: The Sourcer's Guide and Fashion for Profit.

At the Visual Merchandising seminar, Ray Estes of New Era Design believed that "the walls tell the story of your store and has a theme of your identity." Great advice to keep in mind when considering the layout of your store - what "image" are you portraying to your customers?
China seemed to be a popular country that manufactured jewelry. I really loved the bold neon colors here for spring!
Behind-the-scenes picture: being interviewed for MAGIC MARKET WEEK! Full outfit details here.
To think this was just Day 1. Stay tuned for more MAGIC MARKET WEEK updates!
Until next time,

[Photo Diary] New York 2013: Taxi Cab Confessions

3.12.2013

Outfit Details:
Gypsy Junkies sequined bustier
Forever 21 skirt/bow ring
gifted blazer
Papers & Peonies necklace/hand accessory
Jewelmint ring
spiked boots

Another thing about New York? There are taxi cabs everywhere. During the day time, I usually enjoy walking (it's a nice "scenic" route and, hey, you're getting free exercise) but at night, you definitely should take a taxi if going to the other side of town (trust me, I've learned my lesson and ladies you do not want to be walking in heels late at night). Plus, it's kind of fun to do the whistle-and-call-for-a-taxi hand gesture and then it works.

So on a Saturday night, we all got dressed up to go out. Lucky for me, I was smart enough to pack my Gypsy Junkies top to NYC (phew!). Since it had sequins and was extra sparkly, I wanted to keep the rest of my outfit simple with a solid blue F21 skirt and yellow blazer. Piled on a couple of my favorite gold accessories and done - out the door in a matter of minutes!

A taxi cab confession? This was a REALLY fun night - probably one of the best nightlife I've experienced in New York thus far (and I've gone about 5 times now)...and let's just leave it at that. ;)

Happy first week of spring ~ hope you are all enjoying these beautiful sunny days!

Until next time,
kimberly

[Photo Diary] New York 2013: Times Square

3.11.2013

Outfit Details:
Forever21 tank/skirt/boots/bracelet
Target faux fur coat
Nasty Gal necklace
gifted Marc Jacobs bag from the bf
Bucco sneaker wedges

Whenever you're in New York, you have to (I repeat have to) check out Times Square! It just doesn't feel like you've gone to New York until you do, you know? One of my favorite spots to go are these red steps where you get to stand in the middle of it all. Just stand there and absorb all the chaos going around you: bright lights flashing, lots of people speed walking, and tourists picture taking. It's SO a New York moment and I love it!

For our second night out on the town in NYC, it was getting late so I quickly threw on this Forever21 outfit. And with the crazy New York winter weather (fyi this was in January), wearing tights are a must. My new Target faux fur coat was my winter obsession and it kept me nice and warm throughout the night. Wore my Bucco sneaker wedges to walk around the city and later threw on my F21 pink/gold booties (aren't they so cute?!) when we out to a local bar. Oh, and that rose? It was a surprise from the bf. He can be so silly sometimes. ;)
