Coachella Style

4.22.2013

Outfit Details:
 sheer top
obey shorts
Gypsy Junkies cutout cardy
DSW heels
Hautebetts/H&M/Hawaii bracelets
Electric sunglasses
DIY floral crown from HautePinkPretty

Don't laugh but I first discovered Coachella last year when people were buzzing about the holographic Tupac performance (remember this?). I know, where have I been right? Coachella's been going on for decades! So I was really hoping to go this year and was lucky enough to get invited to some of the awesome parties (who doesn't want to go to a Coachella party?!?) but regretfully had to cancel due to personal events back in OC/LA. Now I have to go next year and see what it's all about - consider it on my bucket list!

If I did go to Coachella, this is probably what you'd find me in: sheer tops, colored shorts, flowy skirts, and a flower crown just-because (when/where else can you wear one and get away with it?). Plus, how amazing is the Gypsy Junkies floral cutout fringe cardy I'm wearing? Currently obsessed with its details and my new Hautebetts bracelets! Would have totally packed them too.

A little off tangent but sorry for my delay in posts - it's usually so not like me. However, I have only ONE more week of grad school left so it's kind of consumed my blogging time lately but come next week, I'll have lots of fashion fun to update you all. Good stuff coming, trust! So I'd like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for being patient and supporting my blog. It means a lot. :) Wishing you all a fabulous week and leaving you inspired with one of my new fav quotes!

Until next time,

Style Week LA 2013

4.08.2013

Outfit Details:
black mesh dress
H&M blazer
studded bag c/o Melie Bianco
Carlos Santana studded heels (gifted from the bf)

It's my last month of my first year in graduate school so I've been quite busy. Sorry for the lack of event posts but I am catching up on everything. Trust me, trying to balance school/work/internship/fashion/blogging/etc. is a whole plate full! Luckily I am surrounded with amazing people who are so supportive and encouraging. Seriously I cannot wait til the end of this month when I can officially be on summer break. I'm already thinking about summer plans ;)

Anyways, I finally had some time to sort through my collection of photos galore. Above are pictures from last month's Style Week LA event. I was really happy to be going back to the Vibiana - it's a church (or was a church?) that gets converted into a gorgeous fashion show venue. As you can see from the pictures (which doesn't do the place justice), the interior decor is incredible. And the place is huge (considering it is/was a church)!

This year I attended the Tuesday night showing and there were 4 fashion designers showcasing their brands: Brigade, XCVI, Civil Society, and Paulie Gibson. Brigade had some really cute bathings suits that would go great with a resort trip. The XCVI line carried cute casual clothes for the laid back lifestyle. Civil Society was filled with comfy outerwear for men. To end the night, the Paulie Gibson collection (of turquoise and checkered prints) brought out all the fireworks with not 1-2-or-3 dance performances but 4! It definitely woke the crowd up and got everyone at the edge of their seats.

Changing Seasons + STIXIE BEAUTY GIVEAWAY WINNER

4.03.2013

 Outfit Details:
Zara sweater (from NYC trip)
H&M chambray collared shirt
cutout shorts c/o Mink Pink (from this event)
DSW flats
sunglasses c/o SAMA Eyewear
gifted Michael Kors bag from jude
Jewelmint gold bow necklace
Forever 21 / Papers & Peonies ring & bracelets

As we transitioned from winter to spring, so did our wardrobe. Now some days are hot and some days are not. Seriously. What's a girl to wear with all this confusing weather?

For days when it "looks" sunny outside but you know it's still chilly, try pairing a sweater over shorts. One of my current winter-to-spring sweaters is this pink crochet one from Zara that I got during my New York trip. In fact, I liked it so much I got it in gray too! Coupled it with some tattered Mink Pink shorts because it was a lazy Sunday so why not. Want a bit of extra warmth? Wear a collared shirt underneath the sweater and that should do the trick! This is an easy and comfy look that anyone can wear, especially during these transitional months til summer. {fyi: I'm super excited for summer!! Can you tell?}

Before I forget I want to thank everyone {THANK YOU!} who participated in my Stixie Beauty nail polish giveaway! Can't believe there were over 300 entries ~ wow! I'm still in shock...Anyways, the winner of the Stixie Beauty giveaway for 8 Jessica nail polishes is ::drum roll:: Robyn (@lacqueredlovee) ~ congrats lady, your tweet entry won!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

This was my first giveaway for 2013 and I have lots more coming so stay tuned! Thanks again to everyone who entered and hope you are having a fabulous week!

Until next time,

My Top 10 Discoveries at Sourcing at MAGIC

4.02.2013

As your Official MAGIC Blogger (aka Digital Influencer), I scoured the aisles of Sourcing at MAGIC and hunted for my Top 10 Discoveries.

{This post is particularly for designers and anyone working in the fashion industry.}

1. Could not resist checking out the dresses and outerwear from Ding Hui in China! The designer inside me just had to go and touch the fabrics. And how adorable is that cape? So perfect for winter!

2. Have you heard? Pantone's Color of the Year for 2013 is emerald which I am so excited about because it's my birth stone color! (any other May babies out there?) Prepare yourself for emerald overload this year.

3. Who doesn't love a good pair of denim? JJ Sparkles from China manufactures denim AND they have a U.S. office in SoCal! Talk about being in two places at once.

4. Designing for women's fashion is the biggest market out there. Interested in making knit tops, lounge wear, or special sizes (petite/plus size)? Then Wintop USA can help!

5. Ken Mangone, Formerly, JC Penney highly recommended to "pick the right partners - determine who can, not only execute your strategies, but move them forward." - from the Sourcing Outlook for 2013 seminar. Yes, be sure to pick your partners wisely who have the same goals an interests as you.

6. Looking for a place to manufacture your bathing suits? Then you've got to check out Sun Chung Industrial Ltd. How cute is that blue one piece? I'd totally wear it!

7. Mod styling forecast for S/S '14 from Fashion Snoops. Who else wants to see more "mod" fashion? It's like a flashback but with a modern twist.

8. Racks upon racks of fabric options spotted in  at GTC Textiles! I could have stayed here for hours.

9. Even shoes need to be sourced! These snakeprint neon heels from Create Earth Co Ltd made me stop in my tracks to take a closer look (yeah, I'm kind of obsessed with snakeprint right now).

10. Had fun speaking with DSP about their design and production services they offer in the U.S. As a designer myself (see my work herehere and here), it is very important to know what companies are available to help you turn an idea into a product. This is one of them!

Well there you have it. My Top 10 Discoveries at Sourcing at MAGIC! Hope you now have an abundance of information to help get you started on your designs and where to source your products. ;)

Until next time,

MAGIC Market Week Round Up: Sourcing at MAGIC

4.01.2013

Sourcing at MAGIC is the one and only place where you can reach out to manufacturers from all over the world - 43 different countries to be exact! This year I attended numerous educational seminars and took some notes to share with you all. Have a fashion company or looking to start one? Keep on reading to find out what's trending in the sourcing world.

For fall/winter 2013-2014, Trendstop's Footwear & Accessories forecast included modern empress, sophisticated mint, python, cowboy, and animal clasp purses. Don't know why but I'm kind of excited to see more python print this season! What about you?

These upcoming fall/winter trends were popular on many of the runway fashion shows. Seen here is the modern empress look on the catwalk. I'm picturing lots of brocade prints for later this year.

Another thing to remember? Deborah from All Saints (far right) made an important point that "where we source our products changes people's lives" at the Design, Style, and Sourcing seminar. So what does that mean? Choose a good place you want to source because you will also be supporting their economy. This is a new trend many companies are picking up on quickly.

Save the Earth! With all the hype about being eco-friendly, Shop Eco Bag provides reusable bags for various types of industries. They are a great way to create branding and make great promo items for those "gift with purchase" transactions.

As for the scoop on Fashion Snoops? Their S/S '14 Style Guide forecasted glam grunge, mod world, provincial picnic, and spice trail. So if you're creating a line, be sure to keep these spring/summer trends in mind for the near future.

Curious and want to learn more? Then click here for a full list of all the Exhibitors at Sourcing at MAGIC.
