A Wedding with Vera Wang

Exactly one month ago today, my good friend Alex got married to her high school sweetheart Johnny and it was absolutely beautiful!

From the church to the reception, there was so much love in the air that you knew you were in the presence of two very happy couple destined to be together. (Kudos to my sisteroo Kaf for capturing this moment!)

To celebrate this special occasion, I wanted to wear a dress that reminded me of weddings and who else would be an expert on wedding dresses but Miss Vera Wang right? When I saw this asymetrical Vera Wang gown in my favorite color and tried it on, it fit p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y. Hey, when a sign is a sign, I take it. This Vera Wang dress was meant-to-be worn so I snagged it up right away! As my shopping buddy Jude said, "C'mon it's freaking Vera Wang!"

My handsome date for the night aka "the bf." My little sisteroo Sus caught the flower bouquet and threw it at me. Umm I think she's trying to hint at something. ;)

It is funny though, as we're all getting older, my girlfriends and I keep looking around to see who's next. I think we're at that stage. That wedding stage where everyone will start to get married. haha Not me though - at least not yet (I still have another year of grad school). Until then, I'll enjoy attending weddings.

Outfit Details of what I wore: Vera Wang dress, Sole Society heels (not shown), Ted Baker bangle, lucite triangle ring, gold bow ring, gifted statement necklace from the bf, and a hot shade of NYC pink lipstick (from GUESS event here)

Congratulations Alex + Johnny and happy 1 month of marriage! Wishing you two the best as you grow old together!

"Love is...two people sharing one heart" (stolen from the newspaper clippings that my papabear collects - yes, isn't he so cute?)

According to Kimberly x Penelope's Vintage (part 1)

Penelope's Vintage skirt / coat / sunnies / necklace
Forever21 black tank

My hat goes off to those who are experts at going out and finding rare vintage beauties. I, for one, have learned that I am just not good at that. Lucky for me, though, I am good at online shopping and with the internet, we have access to shop vintage finds at the touch of our fingertips. Makes it so much easier to buy vintage pieces without having to do all the hard work (thanks vintage shop owners!).

Speaking of vintage fashion, I had the awesome opportunity to do a vintage styling collaboration with Chanelle, owner of Penelope's Vintage! On a nice sunny afternoon, I met with the lovely Chanelle and got to pick out pieces from her vintage store, Penelope's Vintage. Above is the first of three looks I styled for this fun collaboration.
red coat
black velvet skirt
statement necklace
circle sunglasses

Randomly (and fun fact), I was drawn to the leopard detailing on the coat collar and buttons so the outfit revolved around that. Next came the soft velvety skirt which made me think of an office party look. As always, having a good statement necklace can totally complete an outfit and this necklace is a perfect example! My outfit was mostly solid (except for the leopard trimmings) and could have been pretty plain but the statement really changed it up and made it more fancy. Me loves. Plus, how cute are these circle sunnies? Doesn't it remind you of That 70's Show? It kind of has that retro/cool/laid back feel which was exactly my mood that day. And there you have it, a business chic look created from vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces!

Are you craving to add some vintage fashion to your closet? Then check out the Penelope's Vintage store here. Happy shopping and stay tuned for my next 2 looks I styled! ;)

P.S. Hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! I visited my Mother at the cemetery as per tradition and spent the rest of the day with family. 'Twas a perfect Sunday funday.

MAGIC Market Week: FN Platform + Kristin Cavallari Shoe Line

During MAGIC Market Week, there was a whole HUGE section of the Las Vegas Convention Center dedicated solely to footwear. Otherwise known as FN Platform, it was a shoe lover's dream to be surrounded with hallways upon hallways of beautiful not-yet-to-be-released shoes. These Sam Edelman sandals, for example, caught my eyes right away when I first saw them and I love how they come in so many fun colors! I can so see the yellows ones brightening up casual outfits, can't you?

If you read about my Sourcing Trendforecast about shoes (here), then you'd know that snakeprint is very popular this season. And Kelsi Dagger does not disappoint by adding them to these super cute chunky heels!

Barely-there "Allie" sandals by Sam Edelman - swoon! Everyone should invest in some barely-there sandals, it makes your legs look so much longer and who wouldn't love that?!?

Cap-toed pointy "Daz Ey" heels by Luichiny? Yes, please. In fact, I was instantly in love with these that I got a pair of the black ones (yup, guilty shoe-lover here).

More Luichiny goodness that I could have just stayed there and drooled over every pair. Oh wait, I think I did do that. *sigh, take me back*

Another favorite shoe brand of mine: Pour la Victoire. Again, I am currently obsessed with snakeprint patterns as seen here on the "Veronica" heel. Something about them gives it an unexpected edge and can totally make a simple outfit pop!

Even Kristen Cavallari made a guest appearance for her shoe collab with Chinese Laundry. Of course, me & my fellow MAGIC blogger Mauricio from Trou Noir couldn't resist taking a picture with her. ;) See Kristen Cavallari's shoe collection here.

Although I didn't have enough time to check out more of my favorite shoe brands (was in serious shoe heaven here), MAGIC did have FN Platform Influencers who did. For my fellow shoe-obsessed lovers wanting more, check out the FN Platform blog for all the shoe updates and what the MAGIC Influencers were up to!

Spring 2013 Fashion Trends

Spring season is here and as the weather changes so will your wardrobe. What's the next hot thing for spring? Don't worry, I've got some fashion tips on this year's spring  2013 fashion trends and how you can incorporate them into your current wardrobe.
My favorite fashion trends for spring 2013 are definitely the tailored shorts, luxe leather, peekaboo cutouts, and bold stripes!
Shorts used to be just for beach days but with tailored shorts, it's more versatile and you wear them out day or night.
Luxe leather is very popular this season as spotted on the Derek Lam, Monique Lhuillier, and Proenza Schouler runways. Choose a classic leather piece and it can be a nice investment item.
For those who like to be a little more daring, you'll love the peekaboo cutouts this season. These peekaboo designs can be found on sheer fabrics such as dresses and blouses.
Another hot trend will be bold stripes, especially with the black and white combo. You'll see them in tops, shoes, and bags.
Wondering how you can wear these spring trends? Here are some outfits ideas to try out! A blazer with a floral top and tailored shorts would be perfect for a lunch date. Throw on some heels and you'll look classy chic for dinner with the girls. Try pairing a leather skirt with a collar shirt for a sophisticated look. Or mix a lace top with the leather skirt to create an edgy feminine attire. Bold stripes are, let's face it, bold. So be careful when choosing something with bold stripes because you want to make sure it's figure flattering. The good thing about stripes is that it's so classic, you can wear it for years to come.
Well there you have it! This year's spring fashion trends and what you can expect tons of this season. Which spring fashion trend are you excited about?
Much love and hugs,

Top 5 Fashion Faves: Met Gala 2013

This year's theme for the Met Gala was punk fashion to match with the museum's new exhibit "Punk: From Chaos to Couture." As I was watching the live stream yesterday, it was quite interesting to see how celebrities attempted to go along with the "punk" theme. Now some of the looks weren't exactly "punk-ish" but many did step out of their normal element and created their own fun, punk version.

Ready? Here are my top 5 fashion faves from last night's Met Gala 2013 "punk" theme event:

1. Kate Bosworth wearing Balmain - if you saw my Twitter feed yesterday than you would've known that I fell in LOVE with Kate's pink embellished dress! As I said, it's very chic & so my style. Absolutely my favorite for the night!

Met Gala 2013: Cara Delevingne
 2. Cara Delevingne wearing Burberry - punk perfection in a classic plunging dress with studded details. You can't tell in this pic but she had an awesome side part braided 'do.

Met Gala 2013: Rooney Mara
3. Rooney Mara wearing a custom made Givenchy Haute Couture - loved the all-white ensemble and scalloped hem! So feminine with a slight hint of edge with the zipper trimmings.

4. Anne Hathaway wearing vintage 1992 Valentino - first off, she looks hot! Second, how amazing is her bleach blonde hair?! Love how she styled it for this punk event.

5. Jessica Alba wearing Tory Burch - okay it's not really punk-ish (which she admitted) but it is made of leather so does that count? That's some effort plus she's looks gorgeous so who cares if she goes by her own rules!

Have to give it to Miss Sarah Jessica Parker though for going to the extreme with the punk theme wearing a Giles Deacon gown, Christian Louboutin tartan boots, AND a Philip Treacy mohawk headpiece! Seriously, who can top this? SJK took punk fashion and made it couture.

What did you think of this year's Met Gala fashion styles? Did you like it - yay or nay to celebrities doing the "punk" thing?
Be sure to stay tune for my next Top 5 Fashion Faves!

Until next time,
