Recap :: Summer 2018 Highlights

9.12.2018

Well this summer is sure going by in a blink of an eye, isn't it?

As I was sitting on my bed with my laptop and contemplating what to post next, I realized that it's been awhile since my last one. In fact, it's been over a month. Wayyy over a month. Oh my gosh! I've been working on some personal goals lately which is why lots of things have been put on a pause but some of them are slowly wrapping up to free up a little more time to get back to blogging (yay!). In the mean time, keep on scrolling to check out my Summer 2018 highlights!

FASHION :: Summer Transitions
Forever21 dress :: Nicole Miller sunglasses c/o Geneva Watch Group :: clutch c/o Alex & Ani :: Kestan necklaces
 Although it's mostly summer forever over here in the OC, I'm slowly starting to accept fall coming. But one thing I'm glad I don't have to worry about is putting away my dresses especially this rusty orange one! I actually got it early summer but it works great to wear it as we transition into fall. Maybe pair it with a black moto jacket and boots?

BEAUTY :: Adding Doll Face Beauty masks

If you know me, you know I am all about a good weekly face mask. It's a beauty must! I tried out Doll Face Beauty's "little black mask" ($25 here) and "purify" masks ($18 here) so far and could feel it working almost instantly after I applied them to my skin. I've been eating kind of unhealthy lately and it's been showing on my face (darn those stubborn acne bumps...and my hot cheetos cravings!) so adding this extra step has been important to maintaining my skincare.

FOOD :: Mesa Lounge {@mesalounge}
725 Baker Street, Costa Mesa, CA 92626

At the beginning of this August, I got invited to a media tasting for Mesa Lounge's new chef menu tasting and way to be a spoiler alert: it was delishhh! The youngest sisteroo Susan and I tried out Chef Abel Vargas globally-inspired tapas including the cast iron mussels, hanger steak, brussel leaves, cauliflower, and burrata pizza. Each dish was full of flavor and perfect for sharing! The burrata pizza with the pesto sauce, proscuitto, and melted burrata on top was just pure goodness and, hands down, our favorite from the night. You totally gotta try it! I'm already excited for you to taste it. Mmm.

TRAVEL :: San Diego roadtrip with Toyota {@toyotasocal}
Vehicle was provided complimentary to test drive, opinions expressed are of my own.

Alright, the Mister and I went on a very last minute roadtrip to San Diego in August and it felt so nice to get away from the city! Even if for just a little bit. We got to test drive the new 2018 Toyota Camry XSE sports edition model and, boy, was that car faaancy. At first glance, we didn't even recognize it as a Toyota vehicle! Its new luxurious design and high-tech amenities were all quite impressive. From bluetooth-to-phone connection, rear/front/side cameras (super helpful when parking!), and the biggest sunroof ever, the Mister and I couldn't believe how many upgrades the car had. It made the drive along the coast so much smoother and relaxing. Toyota, you've definitely stepped up the game!

LIFE :: Meeting Crazy Rich Asian's actress Fiona Xie and book author Kevin Kwan
The Lot inside Fashion Island

One of the coolest things we got to do this summer was attending the Media Preview Screening of Crazy Rich Asians at The Lot theatre inside Fashion Island. From a book written by Kevin Kwan, this movie takes place in New York and Singapore and has been a big movement for Asian minorities. Why? Because Crazy Rich Asians is the first full Asian cast in over 25 years! And it's been #1 in theatres every weekend ever since it's grand opening on August 15th which is showing Hollywood and mainstream media that not only is Asian representation much needed but it can also make big record breaking history! Way to go to the entire team and cast who put this movie together. It's one of the funniest RomCom (short for "romantic comedy," I didn't know that at first) of the season!

How's your summer going so far?

I don't want summer to end (not just yet!) but with all the fall vibes lately, I'm slowly starting to get ready for the next season. Thanks for reading and sending you hugs!
