LIFE :: Setting Goals with Intention

1.07.2019

With the new year comes new goals, am I right?...
There's something about leaving December and entering January. It's like as if you're closing one chapter and opening up a new one. This gives you a moment to refresh yourself, change out old bad habits, or continue striving to improving things. Whatever happened in the past year are either lessons learned or hard work paying off. That's how I see it.

So for your next chapter for 2019, let's set up goals with intention. Write down 3-5 BIG goals you want to accomplish this year. Then break that down into 1-2 small steps for each BIG goal in order to make it happen (this should be roughly 3-10 small steps). These small steps are your smaller goals. Next, write down a deadline of when you'd like to achieve these goals. Now cross that off and make that deadline 2 weeks sooner (to give yourself a little grace period). All these BIG and SMALL goals should be written down in a planner/calendar of some sort so you're able to physically see it and keep track of them. If there are 3 BIG goals you have for the year then spread them out so you give yourself 3-4 months to work on each of them. Or if there are 4 BIG goals, then evaluate where you're at every quarter. Lastly, if you have 5 BIG goals (which is a lot for a 1 year time frame), then you will need to put in the extra hard work and effort to reach 1 BIG goal every 2-3 months.

TIP :: For each BIG goal, include a mid-way evaluation to see your progress. Are you working towards the small steps? Or have you slacked off? Or is something/someone holding you back? This is a great way to check your status and see if you need to re-evaluate any of those goals (cause hey, life happens and it's important to be flexible sometimes).

For 2018, my blog was not given much attention as I had so personal things to focus on. A wedding, a honeymoon, opening up a dessert shop, but - most importantly - finding myself again. The near death experience from the year before {here} really took a toll on me and made me appreciate life so much more. It also made me more vulnerable where I no longer feel as adventurous as before because I tend to lean on the safer side now. Jump off a cliff? No, thank you. Go skydiving? Definitely not. It's almost as if it takes away a little bit of innocence in you where your view of the world changes and you are trying to learn to adapt with these new lens view. By taking that time off for myself and really being present in the moment last year, I feel like I'm finally feeling like myself again. So know that you can feel out of place sometimes but if you continue to practice self-care, you really can overcome it and become a better, stronger version of yourself.

I'm taking this year to really focus on my bloggie to give valuable content for my readers (yes YOU!). And to help with that, I'm working on holding myself more accountable to be more organized for 2019. So I, too, am actually writing down my BIG and SMALL goals - just like how I shared with you above - into my Erin Condren planner {more designs here} and now gotta dedicate the work to get it done. Let's cheer each other on together! They say if you say it out loud (or write it down) then you are making a commitment. Well then for 2019, one of my BIG goals is to work on creating more blog content that can inspire you to try new things, let you feel comfortable in your own skin, and be able to balance this roller coaster ride we call life
