Food for Tuesdays: The Loft, Cerritos

9.13.2011

Shame on me. I know I know. It's way past Friday. I tried posting something on Friday but it was such a busy weekend for me...well, better late than never right?

My little sisters and I had a get-together with one of our friends the other night. Our friend suggested trying Hawaiian Loft, which was like a higher version of L&L Hawaiian food (I don't know if you have one in your city, but we have a couple here in SoCal). It was different -make that better- than L&L for sure.

Menu:
1. Kalua lumpia $4.75 - it's like a shredded pork fried spring roll and very flavorful! The meat was very moist. This one caught me by surprise because I didn't think I'd like it as much.
2. Lau lau & lomi lomi salmon $9 - umm...very weird. I was expecting salmon and it ended up being (more) shredded pork except this one was kind of dry to me since there was SO much pork! The waitress did inform me that it wasn't salmon but I still thought it was anyways (the name of the dish has the word "salmon" in it). I should have gone with a safe choice and gotten the teriyaki salmon. Lesson learned: listen to your waiter/waitress!
3. Island Style Fried Chicken $7.75 - really good and juicy! And the dish comes with a LOT of chicken so feel free to share. And the sides, macaroni salad & ramen cabbage salad, were delicious as well.

If you like eating L&L's, then you'll enjoy the food here. It has that Hawaiian flavor but with better quality ingredients. You can definitely taste the difference!

Bon appetit!

Sending love,
kimberly
