Asymmetrical Color Blocking

8.30.2011

[romper: closet find, skirt: f21, bag: h&m, sunglasses: electric, wedges: coach]

Found this lovely skirt while I was cleaning my closet. I totally forgot about it! Sometimes I think I may have a "closet monster" or something that likes to hide my clothes and then let it reappear months or even years later. I seem to be finding a lot of old-stuff-now-new-to-me lately. Very strange, in a good way, I must say...does anyone else have closet monsters?

OC Decadence 2011

8.29.2011

[dress: closet find, necklace: express, heels; bakers]

Over the weekend we went to the OC Decadence event at the Wyndham Hotel in Costa Mesa. Supposedly this event had about 40 restaurants where you could do food and drink tastings. Sounds cool doesn't it? Well, some of my friends went last year and they said they had a lot of fun so I thought I'd give it a try. Oh-man. Bad idea. It was crazy there! SO many people everywhere! The best thing I had was probably some "white creek" champagne. Or something like that. It was light, fruity, and smelled good. That's an "A" wine in my book!

I don't think we'll be back next year unless they have a limited number of guests allowed so it doesn't seem chaotic. Oh wells. We live and learn. If you don't try to experience something new, then you won't know if you like it or not right?

Gaslamp, San Diego 2011

8.28.2011

[dress: f21, cardy: closet find]

If you are already in San Diego, you should also visit the Gaslamp District. It has a lively atmosphere with so many places to check out: bars, clubs, food, and so on. Almost a home-away-from-home kind of feeling. Definitely a good "night life scene."

Food for Fridays: Sammy's Woodfired Pizza & Maggie Moo's, San Diego

8.26.2011

Double dose for this Friday! During our San Diego trip, the bf and I were trying to find the mall and somehow got lost. After driving around and around for awhile we got hungry and ended up here. The words Sammy's Woodfired Pizza instantly caught our eyes and we knew we had to go in and try it. For dessert? Right next door (well, 2 stores down) was Maggie Moo's Ice Cream shop. Pizza and ice cream? Sounded like the perfect lunch date to me!

Menu:
1. Bread appetizer - I liked the thin, crispy one more and the bf liked the other white roll-looking one more. So win-win for us. Another plus: their butter was soft. Muy importante.
2. Chilled roast vegetable $9.95 - different? Yes. In a good way though because it's interesting to find the variety of ways salads can be made. Otherwise I'd get bored of eating it. The big mozzarella balls, however, were too much and I think mushrooms would've tasted better instead.
3. Sicilian rustic neapolitan pizza $11.50 - Really good. And I mean really good. Why? It tasted fresh, not greasy, and very flavorful. Plus, did you know they have like FOUR different types of crusts here? :O As a pizza lover myself, this sounded like heaven. I so wanted to try them all!
4. Strawberry ice cream $5 - the taste is a combo of ice cream and gelato...good but not great. I kind of had high expectations here (because I never heard of this place before) but it just made me like Joe's Italian Ice even more. haha I know, I keep talking about that place. Cause nothing beats it! So put that on your "Must Try" list whenever you're in town. ;)

Sadly this pizza place doesn't have a location in Orange County. Boo. If they open a Sammy's Woodfired Pizza shop in OC, we'll probably be there almost every week! That's how much we like pizza.

What is cool about Maggie Moo's, though, is that they make ice cream cupcakes and ice cream pizzas. That's unique and different of them. They also make their ice cream fresh in the store and have won several awards for that. If I was a little more hungry, I would've tried the ice cream cupcake. Never had that before and I think that would've satisfied my sweet tooth better.

Bon appetit!~!

San Diego 2011

[top: f21, shorts: gift from the bf, shoes: marc fisher, sunglasses: electric, bag: h&m]

The bf and I went on a mini getaway last weekend to San Diego to visit family. We went to check out a lake and randomly ended up hiking for a mile! For those of you who like hiking (it seems to be the new "thing" nowadays), you can do a good 5 miles if you go around the entire lake. And with such a stunning view, you won't even realize how much of a workout you just did (especially when you're in heels)! It's really refreshing to be outdoors with nature. I loved it!

Happy Friday Everyone!

[romper/cardy: unknown, belt: icing, bag: express, heels: jessica simpson, glasses: fendi]

Casual and comfy for one of those days where I happened to be running around town for errands. At first I didn't like rompers but then it grew on me. And if you find the right one, it's an easy go-to outfit plus you'll be dressed in seconds. You got to love that!

Happy Monday Everyone!

Food for Fridays: Pie-ology Pizzeria, Fullerton

8.19.2011

A place where you can actually make your own pizza? Yes, that's right. At Pie-ology Pizzeria in Fullerton you can customize your own pizza! The way it's set up is similar to Subway's where you walk down the counter and say what toppings you'd like on your pizza. As you can see from the pictures above, we each designed our own personal pizza. You can even do half-and-half like my bf did (half hawaiian/half sausage and mushroom). How cool is that?

The last two photos are the herb garlic strips and cinnamon strips. They were...okay, nothing extraordinary. I would just to stick to the pizzas. Plus it's fun getting to choose your own toppings! Also, ask them to cut it into eighths (it comes out in fours) so you can share and try some of your friends pizzas. ;)

Bon appetit!~!

Accessorize

8.18.2011

[cover/top/belt: unknown, shorts: f21, sandals: volcom, bag: express, accessories: f21 + personal collection]

Amp up your look by piling on accessories. It can really change the way an outfit looks. In this case, there's no such thing as too much.
