Food for Fridays: Tony's Pizza, SF

5.25.2012

You're starving from hunger. I know, my fault. It's been awhile since my last Food for Fridays post and what are you going to eat right? Well, don't worry! After travelling up and down the west coast, I have found the perfect pepperoni pizza at Tony's Pizza Napoletana!

Located down the street from our hotel in Little Italy, San Francisco was this amazing pizza place! They had indoor and outdoor seating but since we wanted to sit inside (it was a little cold up there), we had to wait a little bit. They said 20-30 minutes but it really ended up being about 10 minutes (not too bad).

For starters, they give bread which was unexpected. It came with 3 different dipping sauces. Our favorite were the ones at the ends: the red (had crushed peppers?) and the honey. You can also mix and try those flavors together for a light sweet and savory combo. ;)
We ordered the New Yorker pizza ($25) which consisted of mozzarella, hand crushed tomato sauce, natural casing pepperoni, sliced Italian fennel sausage, ricotta, chopped garlic, and oregano. The bf totally LOVED this pizza - so much he said it was the best he's ever had! And you know we eat a lot of pizza! I don't usually eat pepperoni but it was really really good here. Maybe it's the natural casing on it but something about them gave an amazing surprise crunch that no other pepperoni pizza has.

Now our expectations on pizza have risen and we were very sad there's no Tony's Pizza in SoCal. So if you are ever visiting San Fran, you have to (make that must) stop by Tony's Pizza Napoletana and try one of their delicious pizzas! Especially, if you're in a group, this pizza is HUGE with plenty to share!

Bon appetit!~!

Sending love,
kimberly
