ATK 5 Faves + Sevi Towel Winner

11.13.2015

It's Friday and time for another week of ATK favorites...

This week was all about venturing around Orange County. And guess what? I found some new local hot spots to share with you!

{Favorite Food Find} Ordered the Chef's #1 Special at Gomen Ramen, 7147 Katella Avenue, Stanton, CA (714-761-8007). The boyfriend and I both got the Kukuni ramen which came with pork belly slices, beef broth, and an egg (corn was an additional charge). This was fulfilling and delicious! The bowl comes with plenty of ingredients - a must when you're eating ramen - and I really liked how there was plenty of meat. YUMS.

{Favorite Cool Moment} Feeding turquoises. Yes, you heard that right. On Veteran's Day we had a fun adventure day exploring different places in OC. While we were waiting for our table at Gomen Ramen (above), we went to a small pet store a couple shops down. Inside there were water turtles and a chance to feed torquoises. They were so big! But it was pretty fun to feed them lettuce as they ate it right out of your hand. Definitely a scary but cool moment indeed.

{Favorite Dessert} The boysenberry cream cheese pie at Gourmet Cafe & Pie Company, 5350 Katella Avenue, Los Alamitos, CA (562-546-0055). Down the street from Gomen Ramen, just a couple lights away, is this restaurant & bakery most popularly known for their homemade pies. The boyfriend and I discovered this place a couple months ago and have frequently gone back for our late night dessert cravings. It sounds like an odd combination (that's what we thought when we first heard it) but trust, it's a g-e-n-i-u-s combination!

{Favorite Exploration} Visiting the Bower's Museum, 2002 N. Main Street, Santa Ana, CA (714-567-3600). It's funny how interesting places can be in your backyard but you never really see it until a random moment. I was invited for a tasting at the re-opening of the Tangata Restaurant (post coming soon) inside the Bower's Museum. I've probably been here once over 10 years ago for a choir concert so I never really got to explore it. This time, I definitely took some time to check out the exhibit and artwork. The museum is beautifully decorated and makes for a nice day time activity.

{Favorite Comfort} Tried out Tea Mi's "skinny" and "colon" tea this week (shop it HERE). I am a big fan of tea (it's my daily morning ritual) and I love trying new ones out. So when I received these Tea Mi teas, I was excited to try them out after seeing them on social media. What's great about this tea is that the flavor is very subtle. Great for mornings when I'm craving something light and relaxing. You can also add a touch of honey and a slice of lemon for extra flavoring. Also, congrats to Caitlin R. for winning a Sevi Towel red cotton pestemal (valued at $36.00) from last week's ATK 5 Faves giveaway (HERE)! Check your email for further information to claim your prize. Thanks to everyone who entered and have a great Friday the 13th!
