ATK 5 Faves :: September 2018

9.29.2018

Happy weekend y'all!...
Even though I'm forever feeling the summer vibes (hey, I'm a SoCal baby), I'm trying to slowly switch gears for fall. But if the sun keeps shining outside, summer is still going to be on my mind. #sorrynotsorry Keep on scrolling below for my ATK5Faves!

Who goes thrift shopping?? Cause if you do then you gotta stop by 2nd STREET at the Camp in Costa Mesa. 2nd STREET is a popular Japanese vintage and second-hand clothing shop that has made its way to sunny OC! My first impression of the store? I was quite surprised at how big and organized it was. The clothes were neatly hung on racks according to season, accessories were nicely displayed on shelves, I mean it really did look like an actual store (versus a cave where you have to "dig" through to finally find something good). Usually it's hard for me to find anything at a thrift store since I'm petite and can't stand looking through messy piles of clothes but 2nd STREET made the whole shopping experience very pleasant. In fact, I found a handful of things from tops to skirts and jackets! One of the items I got was this lace navy skirt that fit perfectly and did not need to be hemmed which a sign that I had to get it. I also found an AG Jeans denim jacket that fit so well, I can't wait to wear it out next time. 2nd STREET makes easy to go thrift shopping

BEAUTY :: the exposed bobby pin trend
One of the beauty trends talked about during Style Week OC (here) was exposing the bobby pins. This was seen on the runway at New York Fashion Week and it looks like it's coming to street style as well. Want to give it a try but not sure how? You can recreate the simple look I did! On the side of hair you want to do this style, place 3 bobby pins (courtesy of Kitsch, I used the rose colored ones in this set here) to create a "V" shape. It was really easy and quick to do in just a couple minutes!
BEAUTY TIP :: Use a different colored bobby pin that contrasts with your hair color to make it stand out more or keep to the same tones to have it blend in.

Get ready to check out OC's newest hip spot: JuiceMi! In this picture-loving world, this new cafe is totally Instagram worthy. The new JuiceMi is Orange County's first all plant-based and vegan cafe serving coffee, juice, and superfood bowls. From acai bowls to lattes to toasts and juices, this cafe carries items made with 100% natural ingredients that are dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free, and has no artificial flavors. I got to enjoy the matcha latte, "Santorini" blue bowl (made with spirulina), and beet hummus toast. JuiceMi makes healthy not only look delicious but taste delicious too! Congrats Mimi on your pretty pink shop!

TRAVEL :: Shopping at the new All Saints
3333 Bristol Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92626
(located on the 1st floor outside Bloomingdale's)
***AD: Top & pants were provided by All Saints to attend Grand Opening party.***
Does traveling to the mall count? Cause I think so! Honestly, it's been so busy over here lately that I haven't had time to plan a trip (even though the travel bug has been hitting me so hard!!). I've been working on a big, big project that's been taking up most of my free time. But I do get to squeeze in little trips to the mall occasionally. This time, it was for Orange County's grand opening of the 1st All Saints standalone store at South Coast Plaza! If you haven't shopped this brand yet, you MUST. They have such a fabulous collection of outerwear (here) - I am obsessed! I'm so happy for this store cause, being petite, I usually prefer to try things on first before splurging (and yes, this store counts as splurging to me). Come on in and see why you'll be loving this brand in no time.

LIFE :: daily enjoyments

I don't know about you but watching the sun set gets me sooo excited! The colors, the mood, the natural beauty happening right in front of your eyes. It all just amazes me! Plus, it only lasts for such a limited time that makes it even more precious. This no-filter-photo was the sunset I snapped earlier this week when I was at my girlfriend's house before dinner. It really did stop me in my tracks and I had to capture it and save it because it made me happy. So I implore you to find something in each day that makes YOU smile. Appreciate it and enjoy that moment.

Tell me, how has your week been?

I can't believe summer is (somewhat) now leaving. Guess, I got to bring out my sweaters soon. As always, thanks for reading and sending you hugs!
