Growing up, I always heard that my mother passed away from "breast cancer." It was the 2 scariest words that haunted me throughout my life. The two words that took my mother away from me when I was just 3. Back then, there wasn't much talk about breast cancer so she didn't know. And by the time she was diagnosed, it was too late.
I didn't know that. Every time I went to the doctors, I always remembered to mention this important family history. One day, a doctor told me that since my mother was diagnosed at a young age (early 40's) then I would actually qualify to get a mammogram earlier than usual. That I could start getting them 10 years sooner at age 30. WOW. Imagine being in your 20's being told that in a couple years you could start getting mammograms.I was initially shocked but I didn't hesitate for the referral. After all, when it comes to breast cancer and other diagnoses, the sooner you find out about it the quicker you can take action on it.
Tell me, have you scheduled a mammogram yet?
If not, what are you waiting for? I hope this information was useful to help you move forward with taking preventative action towards your health because you matter.
As always, thanks for reading and sending you air hugs!
