It's the 1st of October and you know what that means: it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month! To celebrate, I joined forces with two of my awesome fashion bloggers to help spread awareness. Of course we had a pink theme and are now all excited to share with everyone our new project! This month's featured item is the pink sparkling bracelet that we're all wearing. Keep reading for more details on how to get one yourself...
LAFC's Open Runway Series (pt.2) ft. Kimberly Luu Designs
8.01.2013
Last month I sat and watched LA Fashion Council's (LAFC) first Open Runway series (here). This month, however, I decided to participate as one of their emerging designers and it was beyond amazing! Not only did I get to showcase some of my new creations (including two I designed the week of the show - yes, I know, crazy right?) but we were also being filmed by E! Online for the Producers of Fashion Police for a potential new reality show. Wow - major cool beans there!

This is one of the dresses I made a couple months ago for OC Fashion Week. I love the simplicity of it and how it easily drapes onto a woman's body.

Here's a #ThrowbackThursday for you all! Last year Lookbook.nu threw an event called "Party Like a Fashion Blogger" so it was obviously a sign for me to go. Got to meet and mingle with other cool fashion bloggers, take fun photo booth pics wearing IVI sunglasses, and do a little dancing. ;) Not too bad for a random Thursday night.
Guess what? There's another Lookbook.nu event tonight! Hoping to reunite with some of my stylish blogger friends later for another fab night in LA.
Until next time,

TPOLA Snowball 2012: DIY Asymmetrical Dress
12.21.2012
Outfit Details: self-designed DIY asymmetrical open-back dress, Target faux fur coat, ShoeMint heels
On Sunday was TPOLA's 3rd Annual Snowball and it was such a busy day for LA fashion bloggers! In the morning there was a Styling Suite at The Redbury (cute bohemian boutique hotel) where we got pampered with complimentary manicures from Bellacures (check out the color I chose on my Instagram!), beautiful hair styling from Joico, a gorgeous dress from Lulu's, and an unlimited champagne bar - oh my!
Then at night was the big Snowball event which was held at where else but at Couture Hollywood, a fashion-inspired lounge. I was actually going to wear a different dress (but couldn't find it) so last minute decided to wear my self-designed maroon colored dress (seriously, I just finished writing a 10 page grad paper that night before heading out the door). See pics below of the super fab night filled with fashion bloggers, giveaways, treats, and style galore!

so many beautiful & stylish fashion bloggers! The Wear to go Girls, Walk in Wonderland, Haute Pink Pretty, Love Joo Kim, Melanee Shale, & Good Bad and Fab Xo
all the cool Snowball goodies ~ Thanks so much TPOLA, NYX, Blistex, Kama Sutra, Crossroads Trading, Joico, Ella Moss, & Lulu's!! (p.s. that's the red dress I won from spinning the Lulu's wheel)
Ending this post with some close up pics of my hair & makeup I did in like 20 minutes (life of a busy grad student/fashion blogger haha). Not too shabby right?
Happy holidays,
kimberly

My Instagram Life
9.11.2012
follow me on Instagram: @kimberly_luu
Another week, another adventure...on Instagram that is! Here's what was happening last week on My Instagram Life:
1. Picked purple flowers / wore my Oasap wings ring
2. Ate lunch with my fellow graduate students at Rubio's / delicious chicken salad
3. Surprised my little sisteroos with tickets to the MTV VMAs / wore our own dresses we designed
4. Us sisteroos certainly enjoyed our box suite seats @ the VMAs / great live show
5. Studied by the pool & then went swimming / how I spent my lazy Saturday
Sorry I haven't been able to post much since I started my Master's program. I'm slowly getting the hang of things and finding my own little "study system" that works. Once I get in the zone, I hope to have a little more free time to do more postings (oh I've missed you guys!). So stay up-to-date with me on Instagram (@kimberly_luu) and come say hi!
Hope you're all having a super fabulous day and making the most out of it. Especially since it is the anniversary of 9-11. This day will always be remembered in U.S. history and my heart goes out to all those affected by this tragedy.
Live well. Laugh often. Love much...and remember to enjoy each day.
Sending love,
kimberly

Food for Fridays: Iron Press, Costa Mesa
8.17.2012
When I first heard about this place, I knew I had to try it. C'mon, sweet AND savory sandwiches? You really can't go wrong with that. Ahem, The Iron Press, you were totally calling my name.
Smoked turkey waffle sandwich - there's smoked gouda in here but I actually ordered this because of the garlic aoili. Yummsss!
One syrup sauce was not enough! I had to get some more because my sweet tooth was kicking in. Thank goodness they have such friendly service here and was very kind to help.
Enjoyed this tasty meal with my friend and fabulous fashion blogger Heather from LAFashionSnob! She ordered the veggie patty burger and said it was one of the BEST she's ever had. Oh man, I so have to order that next time!
And another time I took my dearest Judith here because she's never been. We ordered similar waffle sandwiches that filled us up. Then we saw their Belgian waffle + nutella + strawberries + banana dessert and our eyes told our brains to order it. That thing was HUGE! Honestly, I don't know how we ate it all but it was so worth it. Next time though, if you're going with someone, share a waffle sandwich so you can save room for dessert.
To sum it up, The Iron Press is the place to go to satisfy your sweet & salty cravings. Switch up your sandwiches with waffles and forget the bread! Once you've tried it, plain old sandwiches just won't be the same anymore...trust. They also have a wide selection of beers here for all you beer lovers out there (I'm more of a wine person, hint hint Iron Press: can you add some to your list?). So there you have it; go and get some Iron Press now!
Bon appetit!~!
Sending love,
kimberly

7.26.2012
Outfit Details: dress c/o Lulus.com (still available here), Poppie Jones bag (from DSW), American Rag heels (from Macy's), F21 necklace, Charming Charlie watch bracelet
Show time was 8pm.
Designer call time was 1pm.
Sounds pretty early right? 7 hours before a show starts? Well, believe it or not, we needed it. I was moving nonstop the entire time (almost forgot to eat!) from checking model's hair/makeup to doing last minute touches on my dresses & jewelry designs. I didn't even have time to do my hair! (So please excuse the wild hair look lol) Even with all the craziness going on, I loved every moment of it and would totally do it all over again. <3

My super cool friends & family who came out to support my big night! Heart them!

Mmm...fresh fruits (basically my meal that day)
My dear friend Tiffani also came out to support! Our dress colors look good together, don't they?
